RE: Thinking Positive
That is great news. When I was in high school I went to Mitch Kupchak's "Yes I Can" Basketball Camp hosted by Stan Kellner, a very successful HS and college coach on Long Island. He taught Basketball Cybernetics and wrote a few books about it. The camp emphasized the mental aspect of the game and thinking positive. Things like seeing the ball go through the hoop in your mind before you shoot. It helped me focus and think positive not just in basketball but in many aspects in life. I really do think it's a game changer. Hopefully the coaches can learn from this also and instill those practices throughout the program.

RE: Thinking Positive
One of my favorite sports books is "Eagle Blue" by local writer Mike D'Orso. He follows an Alaskan high school basketball team through one of its seasons (20-plus hours of darkness above the Arctic circle).

In one of the games (I think I recall they were the visiting team somewhere near Nome), the best player on the opposing squad was described (unkindly) as a chunky little kid who looked like he had been drawn from a Charlie Brown cartoon.

But, unlike every other player on the court, who were far better athletes, this kid knew how to play with confidence. And he dominated the game.

Basketball, like baseball, is great because there is so much much about it that is mental, not just physical.
