I still think he's a pretty good coach.

Missouri was in an awful place when he got there and it's not going to get better overnight.

That being said, Middle Tennessee looks to be like the same competent 7-5, 8-4 team they typically are.

He got the job because about 5 different people turned them down

Maybe so.

But they shouldve won by 14+.

So many mistakes in all phases.

Agreed. I'm sure Odom is a good guy, competent coach, but no chance in hell I'm trading Norvell for Odom right now given what Norvell has done on the recruiting trail.

If Mizzou can't beat MTSU, it's gonna be a long ass season in the $EC.

Pinkel did just fine while he was there. It wasn't a mess.

Which is more an indication of just how awful of a place Missouri was in when he got the job.

Coaches would love a head coach job in SEC football. Y'all are delusional. Norvell is doing great and I'm glad he's the Tigers coach!

Perhaps you want to catch up on what's going on at Mizzou; the University is a dumpster fire...

Odom is a good defensive coordinator but there's a big difference in DC and HC - most coordinators won't be successful in that transition. Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp come to mind as examples. We were very blessed with Fuente and it appears that Norvell probably also has "it" - our AD seems to have a good eye for spotting "it" in prospective coaches.

There are plenty of coordinators that have made great head coaches it's just in today's game you want offensive co. Not defensive guys

That's because defense has been castrated in the "modern game."

I don't buy that...Look at Saban. It all about leadership, but obviously a defensive guy will need good Coordinators.

6 games into his 'transition' and you have him as 'unsuccessful'. Amazing stuff. There is a reason Richt was fired. UGA's offensive and defensive lines are not much better than the Tigers.

RE: Thank goodness Barry Odom turned us down
The problem for Odom is that he was about the 10th choice for the job, meaning they won't have much patience with losing before they start looking again. If Mizzou starts trending up, he will have the job for a while but if the losing continues next season he'll be in trouble. Doesn't seem fair but Odom came in with marginal support, despite the fact the players love him. The problems at Mizzou are much bigger than FB at this point & they are going to have a very tough time hiring a proven HC.

Some folks on their message boards are calling for him to be gone next year
