OT: John Coffino
For you basketball insiders out there, at my kids school here in Tbilisi, Georgia my son is on a team coached by John Coffino, a recent coach in the NBA Development League and assistant at St. Peter's, Niagara and Iona. He has also coached a professional team here in Georgia and I believe also in Kenya previously, but speaking to him the other day, when he found out I went to JMU he mentioned in his thick Bronx accent, "Oh yeah, my good friend Matt was the coach at JMU..."
Really great guy and I look forward to having him be a part of our little expat community out here in the Caucasus. My son, who I love dearly but can barely dribble the ball much less take a good jump shot (and I am no better), has no clue how awesome having Coach Coffino as his high school basketball coach is. He also mentioned he nearly landed the assistant job to Paul Hewitt (GMU) - I told him he dodged a bullet there...
We're looking forward to HS bball tournaments in Kiev and Moscow.
Truly a small world!
