Oregon's collapse
When's the last time Oregon lost five games in a season, let alone five in a row????

Is it just a very unlucky string of opponents? All bad matchups?

At the least, I would think you could've only said that about the previous four - with Colorado, Washington St, and Washington all being surprisingly very good this year, and Nebraska leading the Big Ten West (for now).

But Cal??

Brady Hoke. :)

Actually when Hoke ran UM, they still had a GREAT D, that I think Harbaugh has inherited well.

So it's shocking Oregon's not great... although it does take a while to get a D harvested.

I am happy that UCF is not overachieving this year or else they would be searching for a new coach this Summer.

RE: Oregon's collapse
Its what happens when you lose a great coach and replace him with someone who isn't. Chip Kelly was great. It's like with Miami lost Jimmy Johnson or even Butch Davis. You can hold it together for a few seasons, largely due to the recruits the other guy brought it. But after 3 years it starts to thin out. By year 5 its basically all your guys

Apparently more than money, which Oregon has no shortage of.

Not having to grab Big Sky QBs would help, too.

Ability to hire and then hold the right coach is one of the big ways that money matters. It doesn't help so much if you don't use it to hire the right coach.
