This was not at all made as a snide remark, and you know that. It's a reminder that whoever is on top gets hated on. Really has nothing to do with our game, but as we win more and more, people start dogging Troy. It's happened to every program in the league that's had success.

Troy fans frustration at this is exasperating. Of course app and astate rooted for you to lose. They want to win the freaking conference. Georgia southern same boat. Of course they'd root for USA last night

It's not really that frustrating, chief. This is a message board, and we're just playing a long. I enjoy a good ribbing and pointing out human nature every now and then, but most of us (all of us, I hope), put our actually lives way ahead of message board shenanigans. This isn't that big of a deal. We're not that frustrated, and you're not that exasperated.

It's less about rooting for us to lose. I think most of us could care less about that. It's a human tendency that when Troy keeps winning, more and more people think we're a fraud. I'm enamored more by the philosophical/behaviorism aspect that goes a long with winning. I've always heard that when people start to hate you (again we don't mean actual really hatred, just more intense smack talk), you must be doing something right.

I don't always agree with Ayn Rand, but her thoughts on how people view winners was interesting. It's not nearly as serious on a message board, but what happens here when different programs start winning big is sort of a microcosm of what she's talking about:

Personally, I wasn't rooting for anyone. I wanted to see a tight game where USA played representative of how they performed out of conference considering the game was on national TV. It was a chance to showcase Troy, who everyone has heard about because of the Clemson game, and USA, a middle of the road SBC team that beat an SEC team and a ranked opponent.

I wouldn't have minded if you did. We all root for the best scenario for our team to move forward. For Troy, best case is Idaho scores a lot of points but APP still wins. Would not want an angry APP coming into Troy, but I'd like Idaho to soften up your pass defense.

I think both teams and fanbases did a good job showcasing the SBC on ESPN-U. Definitely an exciting game. Much respect for what USA came out and did. They gave us all they had. Great game.

If you pull for Troy but disappeared from this board for the past four years enjoy the bandwagon, don't fall off.

I wanted to see an exciting close game and for both fan bases to show well in Ladd. I was not disappointed. Ultimately I pulled for Troy since App doesn't play USA and I'll be rooting for the Trojans in all but one game the remainder of the season. Hoping for an undefeated conference battle when App visits Troy in a few weeks.

It is interesting to see that dynamic in play.

The week following USA's victory over Miss St, new and old USA fans flooded the board. Now most have disappeared.

We've also gained new Troy posters and regained some old posters this season.

It is my hope that fans stick around regardless of how their team is doing in order to add to the discussion. It makes for a healthy community and it keeps this place from turning into an echo chamber.

Typical of any fanbase. Bandwagon fans are always welcome. That's the people that give us the attendance boosts when we win. The diehards will always be there.

I'll be pulling for APP today. You're our next conference game. You have this one and two more, so it's up to you whether or not you're undefeated. I'll pull for you guys the rest of the way as well. I hate that you guys don't have to play Arkansas State or that pesky South Alabama squad, but it is what it is. No worries and good luck today.

GO APPS.
