I have never been happier.

THAT is pretty much about where I am at. DVR is not a big deal with stream on demand.
Yeah the only thing is when you record it yourself you can skip the commercials, most on Demand stuff, rewind and fast forward are disabled when you view. At least that is how it is with my Charter Spectrum subscription.

I wish there was a way to hack/disable OnDemand's "no fast forwarding" control, that is, without just going the DVR route.

The only "recorded" thing I might watch is a replay of a UC football or basketball game. I believe you can pause, fast forward and rewind those on ESPN.

With two kids I primarily watch everything "On Demand" which allows no fast forwarding through the commercials. I have found that if I wait a week to watch a show a lot of the commercials are already cut out, which is nice, if I want to wait a friggin' week.

VA,

Don't bother. The fix is in. Being able to fast-forward/skip commercials was the bane of all TV exec's existence when DVR's were at peak. Now with streaming/on-demand, you can no longer do that.

Good Lord!

I wouldn't spend that. Americans spend too much and get too little.

An important point is also that the various providers are not instituting data limits Verizon style. Comcast has 300GB per month limits and AT&T has 600GB limits in some areas after which penalties are incurred.

The companies are actively fighting the idea of cord cutting.

That's what I pay. If I drop the cable, I may save ~$40? I then have to buy a subscription to another service and possibly upgrade my internet. Still at $180 or more

$140/month for internet?????

I hope that comes with 10 monthly visits to the local "massage" parlor.

I'll never pay that much for a land-line data service. You can keep your data, in that case.

They do in the actual city and suburbs. But I live on some acreage a few miles outside one of the suburbs. I'm guessing there is not enough demand for cable out this far.

ATT offers no limit 1gb service here because google fiber is in town. I pay $70 a month for it, and happily since there are times where stuff is streaming on 4+ TVs, maybe 4-5 devices not including laptops and I work from home where every room has multiple live Ethernet ports. So, uber fast internet service is a must in my house. We use fire tv so our phones are our tv remotes and stuff plays instantly. All in all I pay about $115 including all my streaming services. The kicker here is I never have to deal with lagging issues because of the speed I get and I can use an unlimited amount of data. I am loving it, F*** cable.

I was doing a "cord cutting consultant" thing during the summer (had to hustle being out of work for 3 months). The main reason people are waiting on actually ditching cable is that they don't understand the alternatives, from that experience anyway.

When you show them what they can get from 5 services that cost $9 a month each, their eyes light up.

Just cut my DirecTV bill by $50/month for a year and got the NFL Sunday ticket for free. Now I get to watch the Rams/Keenum, sweet.

Pro-tip: Have a Time Warner, Comcast, or Dish introductory offer at the ready to give them that has your interest 03-wink, and makes you wonder if you're paying too much.

I can see getting away with cutting if you aren't a sports fan, but thinking about the lengths I would have to go to, to watch UH/college football in general if I didn't have satellite seems like a nightmare and hardly worth the nominal savings.

Well done Kronke.

While it would be a nice dream if they would just offer the products at reasonable prices, it is well established that most people would rather just pay it than call in and haggle.

Very reflective of the electorate when it comes to our politicians.
