Honest question...
When a football radio broadcaster says that the action is moving "from left to right" across your radio dial...WTH does that mean? Especially on AM where the same sound comes out of both speakers?
I've always scratched my head over that....
Please enlighten me.

They all have e-mail and twitter accounts, why don't you ask them directly?

Honest question...
The radio representing a football field, they are headed from the endzone on the left towards the endzone on the right? From 700 to ESPN1530.

This is a good question, and I'm disappointed that fellow board members didn't answer honestly. The genesis of the phrase is really quite fascinating. In American politics, the left has traditionally been viewed as the more pacifist, anti-engagement party. In football games, announcers would often call teams "left" if they felt that they weren't being aggressive enough, or engaging the opponent. Once a team started to become more physical, especially in the day of "3 yards and a cloud of dust" (when dominating the opponent physically was key to victory), it was said that the team was moving from left to right, ie. they were engaging and dominating the opponent.
Or, it just means that the announcers are describing what's in front of them. Use your damn imagination.
