Mid-season terminations are rare in FCS. Maybe the new UD admin has a pulse.

With how long it took to find a men's basketball coach, they had to start the process early.

I wish they would have kept him longer so Delaware would keep sucking. He is about as inept as you can get as a D-1 head coach.

With a good coach Delaware should be top tier CAA every year.

RE: Dave Brock fired
My guess is that some influential donors have started "voicing" their opinions. Maybe they are just being heard because there was nobody around to listen at UD for a year and a half.

From a messaging standpoint, the fact that Brock AND the womens volleyball coaches are being let go at the same time mid season sends a message that the current leadership knows they need to change fields immediately. I dont think this is a direct reaction to specific wins or losses other than, perhaps, the fact that UD is out of any possible playoff scenario.

The university in general has been a dumpster fire going back to Patrick Harker's surprise resignation in the spring of 2015. It is really quite surprising. UD has an amazing canvas to work with relative to many our peers. They have seemed to fail in each strategic decision made the last 10-15 years.

They needed to fire him now before most of their fan base died.

I just fell down a wikipedia hole looking at fcs playoff history. If anyone hates the CAA more than me, it has to be Montana. Three FCS title games since 2004, all three losses at the hands of CAA teams: JMU, RU and VU

Perhaps this year, yes. After all, we already lost to your natural rival, Elon. While the Tribe was grateful to get a win over the Blue Hens, we did absolutely nothing offensively for 3 quarters. Delaware ran much like JMU did last week and we were unable to stop it, but fortunately decided to throw in a couple key spots and we intercepted. That and an onside kick led to a 4th quarter comeback. No doubt we are way down this year. However, we are looking forward to basketball season eagerly.

Most of the Delaware fans I encountered before and after the game were calling for the coach to be canned. I actually hate to see that. I do agree that Delaware used to be the biggest win in the conference when we beat them. 2010 was the last time I remember them being really good.

Looks like 5 teams still in the running for playoff spots: Dukes, Spiders, both Wildcats, and Stony Brook. I don't think Albany can get there and everyone else is basically already out of it since the CAA likely cannot get more than 4.(Will defer to BDK's analysis here)

Finally, I don't remember losing to Delaware in the 2004 playoffs........, we had another great comeback to beat them that year. But we did lose to someone the next week which was the 2nd most painful loss we ever had.

And Wes Hills wasn't even playing.

In case anyone didn't get the reference, the new UD interim HC is their DL coach, former Maine player Dennis Dottin-Carter (34). He is the older brother of former JMU LB Isiah Dottin-Carter, who in 2006 as a senior made All CAA at LB in his 1st and only year starting at LB after moving from Strong Safety. Started Alongside All American & Eagles/Chiefs NFL LB LB Akeem Jordan (who oddly isn't listed on the 2006 online roster).
