Houston Observations
This somewhat makes up for the Ohio St game in that we played very well against a very good, ranked team on the road. We still have issues, but the players aren't backing down from anyone. IMO if that game had been played in Tulsa, we win. And don't tell me Houston overlooked us since we were undefeated in the league and were a 4-1 football team getting votes in the Coaches poll. That argument has no wheels. So it was a game that earned respect, but was still a loss.

Issues that hurt us in the game:

1. Loss of our top runner - Brewer early on.

2. Very poor tackling in the secondary, especially early on.

3. Inability to consistently rush Ward when he was in the pocket.

4. Dane not being able to throw over the DL from the pocket.

Now we need to forget about this game and concentrate on Homecoming and the Tulane Green Wave, get that 5th win and look toward getting bowl eligible. 4-2 with both loses to ranked teams is not a bad record at this point.

Go TU!

RE: Houston Observations
It was a heck of a lot better game than I thought it would be....too bad our tackle playing receiver didn't stick the ball over the goal line with one hand. Our defense played too much of the game waiting for the Houston backs(Ward especially) to decide what they were going to do instead of attacking.....they kept going backwards 5-10-15 yards kind of waiting for someone to tackle the runner.......I think they took the coach too literally when he told them to keep Ward in front of them. Navy beat them by attacking the corners and messing up the outside run game.....we just kept letting the blockers walk us backwards. Overall a good game against a ranked team, in their house.....we could have won with just a little luck!!!!!
