Exclamation Game Week: @WMU
This game is turning out to be a very interesting game.

Only two teams, NW and IL, have held Western to less than 40 points.

TOL and arguably EMU are the only two teams with a reasonable chance to knock off an undefeated Western team. I believe there are about a dozen undefeated teams in FBS. [edit: I counted 10]

This game will be shown on the ASN (American Sports Network) so it will be picked up by a lot of stations across the nation.

Last week the mantra could have been #StriveForFive (I think that has to do with fruits and veggies, though) now it is bowl eligibility...

RE: Game Week: @WMU
ESPN has some interesting notes on WMU. Man, everyone is on that bandwagon (of course, folks are getting on ours: Bunsis, you on? Lol).

97% of bettors at the William Hill sportsbook took WMU yesterday (-13 points).

And it looks like Franklin yesterday could have pushed a truck full of Western bandwagoners. He had a career game. (Glad we have this year's defense rather than past defenses).

http://www.espn.com/college-football/tea...an-broncos

Look at the (h)uge numbers: Terrel 17 TD passes, Franklin 800 yards, Davis 10 TD catches.

RE: Game Week: @WMU
But if we can find a way to win it definitely make a statement wouldn't it? It would make a bowl offer very legit if we can knock off a ranked team.

Injuries: It looks like Spearman, Browning and Artistilde and MacLean are back although MacLean maybe not 100%. Thorton still suspended. Ross Williams out yet, Todd Porter out yet, Banham out yet (which why we burned Willie Parker's redshirt, we're down to 3 healthy backs and he makes 4). Ldidn't play at all yesterday . McGill has been moving up the depth charts at DB. Nielsen made his first start.

Corrected Dawson, also add Sexton to the injured list.

Porter was in uniform yesterday.

Any word on Erickson's injury?

It should be interesting the next home game with Miami (Ohio). Depending on weather we could see a record home crowd.

Let's hope so! My cousin is driving up from Ohio to go watch the game with me, he'll be rooting for Eastern though

Not the definition of 'October Suprise' used in political circles, but a win over Miami makes EMU bowl eligible in OCTOBER!!!!

To long suffering EMU FB fans, it is the "October shocker" to be bowl eligible.

With Porter, MacLean, etc. getting healthier, is Shaq Vann the one big season ending injury we have for a starter?

Truth be told, other than Shaq we are a pretty healthy team. Most teams after seven games have many injuries.

Ross Williams was a starter before getting hurt. I think he's the only one besides Shaq.

I also forgot about Anthony Brown, who was almost certainly our best defensive player last year. Could you imagine if he was healthy? Would add another veteran presence to our young secondary.

It will be interesting to see if we can find a way to W.I.N this game. I am sure WMU will have a packed house

BTW, would a victory over EMU be more of an accomplishment than our 1987 bowl win over San Jose State??

I believe we can win if we play to our potential.

Expect Victory!

RE: Game Week: @WMU
This is a nothing-to-lose and everything-to-gain game for EMU. Nobody, including most of us, thinks EMU will win.

But if EMU does win...

-They will basically be in the driver's seat for the MAC West championship.
-They will be bowl eligible.
-They will wreck WMUs undefeated season.
-They will steal all of the media love that WMU is currently receiving.
-all of the WMU folks that love to look down their noses at EMU will be humiliated, embarrassed, angry, etc.

Looked like they burned Willie Parker's redshirt, if my eyes weren't deceiving me. Could be Breck Turner and Willie Parker as our 1-2 combo this week.

RE: Game Week: @WMU
Its funny I was reading in one of the other threads that essentially EMU's play so far this season is bringing out the "bandwagon" fans, and while its nice to take pride in the fact that many of us have been watching and supporting this team through some very lean years; ultimately isn't it it the bandwagon fans, that we've been trying to win over for two decades. I'll be honest, I've been the butt of many jokes over the years for attending EMU games and refusing to attend UofM games in favor of attending games at Rynearson. And now that EMU is winning, I've had several friends text me and they are talking about attending the game against Miami Oh in two weeks. I'm not discouraging them or calling them bandwagon fans, or asking where they were at last year, I'm talking to them about our team, our coach, our strengths, the grey turf at Rynearson, our defense that plays its heart out, our wide receivers that have been a pleasant surprise, and most of all I'm talking to them about how important it is that they attend a couple games and support this team, especially after all the drama in the off season. So, while I get the feeling of frustration with "bandwagon" fans, lets make sure we aren't letting that spill over when we are talking to new fans or maybe old fans that have found their way home. I hope that Creighton has built a foundation that will lead to EMU contending for MAC titles for years to come, but no matter what happens, I've had more fun watching this team than any other I can remember, and we need to share that excitement and enthusiasm with our alumni and friends.

well said. i know a lot of people that are 'dormant fans' more than bandwagoners. they graduated from EMU and have been to a bunch of games, but they stopped going because they were discouraged after spending so many saturdays watching 55-10 shellackings. and, who could blame them? glad to have those people back in the fold.

and, if someone is pumped up enough to be a bandwagon fan, we need all the fans we can get. i'll welcome anyone who wants to show up at Rynearson in Oct & Nov when there are a million other things they could do.
