I've said it too many times....

how we can't find someone that cannot kick it out of the EZ is beyond me with all the international soccer fiends on campus....

it just can't be that hard to find ANYONE! that can do that, and only do that.....
Why do you think there are "all these international soccer fiends on campus?" We have a men's club soccer team. Unlikely that there is a treasure trove of hidden talent there.

there are more than just the club crew..... bottom line is there has to be an existing student that would be willing to walk-on just to be the kick-off specialist.....hold tryouts and be done with it....

our opposition continually playing a short field after a kick-off is a sure fire way to get your arse kicked upside down and sideways....toss in the lack of injuries that would occur, and it's a dadgum no-brainer that is a essentially a freebie....

Fedora was a hell of a salesman. In the years immediately preceding him, we were also signing more 2s than 3s. Matt Hinton/Dr. Saturday did a whole article on it.

Indeed he was. People can say all they want about Fedora, but he filled the talent gap we had been missing. He was a salesman. He's got the personality we need leading our program in every sport. They excite players, recruits, and a fanbase.

In Fedora's first year, we had 33k come out to watch the home opener against ULL with a hurricane in the Gulf headed our way. Hopson won against an SEC team and managed to get 28k. Speaks volumes about where our fanbase is right now.

I'm sure there are students who would be willing to be a walk on, but there is a reason why they aren't currently kicking off for some college football team right now. If they were able to consistently kick it into the endzone, they would have been snapped up already.

knowing how coaches view kickers and the fact that open tryouts are not held would lend to the thinking that facet isn't on their radar....

the teams with speed and size WANT a return from the opposing team....it is easy to acknowledge that we don't have either in defending the kick...

hell, we intentionally kicked it out of bounds against ooootsa....

until I see effort being applied to this simple facet, I cannot acknowledge that we are utilizing all the options available....

I don't know where to find the stat, but would feel comfortable saying we are near/at the bottom where opposing teams field position begins after kicking off....

We didn't kick the ball out of bounds on purpose at UTSA. We tried the same onside that bama executed in the NC game last year. Our kicker missed by about 20 feet.

I posted that same premise when it happened

http://csnbbs.com/thread-793747-post-136...id13658396

....it was another one later....or maybe I was hallucinating...

semantics doesn't really matter, does it?

we don't have a fk'n kicker that can kick it out of the end zone.....and our coverage crew flosses with frumunda cheese residue.....

that's what matters....
