Miami Game
Offense not doing much so far. This has the feel of one of those disappointing vintage kent performances...

Defense looks good, may not take a whole of points to win. Not having Rankin is killing us!

RE: Miami Game
Both teams are playing as if the #1 draft pick is on the line... Total yawn fest.

They didn't elaborate on the injury, just that he wouldn't be in today.

Wow... well I guess we now know the center was our most important offensive player, because the backup is incapable of making a shotgun snap.

RE: Miami Game
Last year our offense couldn't win a game and this year our defense can't win it.... A complete **** show today.

Wow, can't buy a break. Looking like a w, then our center gets hurt and the backup comes in and quickly creates a saftey. Then we just need a couple first downs to ice it but our qb is hurt and we try to use another rb at qb. Then with one last chance we get called for a very questionable intentional grounding. Shouldn't have come to this though, Miami is straight trash. I guess we are too.

RE: Miami Game
Defense held them to 260 yards and produced a turnover, this game just like the others was on the offense being unable to produce and not taking chances down the field.

To me it was Akron all over again (and NCA&M before that). Defense just falls apart with game on the line. I can't do another one of these games this year. Once again absolutely gutted.

But they couldn't hold them when it mattered... Not saying our offense didn't suck, but if the d does their part in crunch time we win...

Defense definitely played well but for the second time in MAC play couldn't get a stop in the last few minutes to seal the deal. Maybe this is just me reading too much into things but I gotta wonder if the amount of starters we play on special teams is causing out defense to wear down at the end of games. It was Holley that got beat on that long touch down. Maybe if he hadn't ran 60ish yards multiple times to try to catch a return man he would've been a step quicker on that play?

To me last year we lost a ton of games b/c the offense couldn't drive down field at crunch time and come up with a field goal. This year our offense gives the d a minimal lead and they can't capitalize. Same old collapses on different sides of the ball with the same results! This just proves bad programs always find a way to lose and that's what we are. Looks like Hazell is gonna be a free agent next year , but to be completely honest I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pool.

RE: Miami Game
The team isn't coached to win. Kent had the ball with 2:47 left in the 2nd all three timeouts and 3 runs then punt, taking 50 seconds off of the clock. Which allowed Miami to come down and kick a field goal right before halftime. There were 14 pass attempts... I will say that again 14 pass attempts.. That is not a team that is trying to win but to maintain a small lead and hope that things work out.

Since 2013 the team has scored more than 30 points 6 times, under 10 points 14 times and been shut out 6 times. Over that time frame it is a total of 704 offensive points in 42 games or 16.8/ppg. I am amazed the defense still shows up to games at all. If holding a team to 15 points doesn't win you the game how can you get motivated to come out and play the next week or week after that let alone for all 4 years of your career.

Not that I expect Kent to be on Louisville's level of scoring but they have scored 314 points so far this year. Western Michigan has 269 points going into this game. When there are teams on track to score more points a year than Kent in 4 years there is no excuse for that.

RE: Miami Game
flash77, on the whole, it has been an ugly forty years!! After defeating Eastern Michigan on October 22, 1977, to climb to 5-2, the program has lost 181 more games than it has won. That translates into the typical season being one in which the team lost four or five more than it won.
