RE: OT basketball recruiting
A few things. First we have a forum dedicated to recruiting. Second, this isn't Bearcat related and shouldn't be on the main forum anyway. Third, watch the language.

And go ahead and move it over to the "correct" forum. I figured I'd post this here since it was posted over on another Bearcats site I was on.

Not a surprise. Mack knows how to recruit. I think a lot of his success is simply due to the fact that he played D1 basketball.

Well, if you keep that up you won't have to worry about it anymore.

The moderators here have some weird obsession with condensing everything into as many threads as possible. If this board was getting extreme activity I would understand, but there are usually only a couple new threads here a day.

The moderators are also very power trippy and love flex their Internet muscles and play tough guy buy bannimg anyone who doesn't post exactly to their guidlines.

As for the original post, I think alot of what Xavier does is relevant to UC whether people here want to admit it or not. Try going to a Louisville board and not see a ton of UK threads, or try going to an Ohio State Board and not see a bunch of Michigan threads. Yes, they are all relevant and worthy of being on the main board.

RE: OT basketball recruiting
Currently, Xavier has a better program than UC. They play in a better basketball conference and play in better basketball cities(recruiting). It is an absolute shame how all this conference movement has gone down, but it is what it is.

XU is in a better conference
XU has a better arena (for now)
XU has had a lot more exposure/success in the past 15 years or so

what's not to get about this?

Perhaps the fact that the fanbase is far less concerned (even complacent) about the state of MBB than FB, even though it has been languishing for far longer?

So laughable. We've banned exactly five people in the past six months. Two trolls from other fan bases that did nothing but bait and flame. A couple of guys who violated our one request not the keep starting "fire tuberville" threads. And Duane.

And we are actually quite tolerant compared to most sites on all of the things you are whining about. But don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion.

But according to Mick (and others), it's hard to recruit and you can't get any of the top guys unless you are in a P5 conference. Sounds like XU is doing just fine. Isn't that two top 10 classes in a row for them? Or at least in the past few years?

The question is at x is wil hel 1. end up staying committed and play there and 2. will he not get suspended or booted. As my x friend(s) say, we've become the new Huggins era bearcats.

While X is not in a P5 conference, basketball is different eith the Big East and A10 having leagues dedicated to the sport. The Big East is still a brand name. And yes it's superior to the AAC

I don't remember hearing Mick say it's hard to recruit outside of a P5 conference, though he may have said this and I didn't hear it. I have heard him lament conference realignment and heard him say it makes it more difficult to recruit because he's likely to lose access to his traditional recruiting areas moving to the Big 12.

One thing about Xavier is that their conference's basketball quality isn't necessarily better overall, but they're funneling all their money towards that one sport while Mick has to share with football.

That doesn't seem to be working out too well for him.

Let us know when Xavier actually wins something significant. Until then, who cares?

I've literally NEVER heard Mick say anything like that.

So, Mick has you on board with his opinion that the Crosstown is unimportant?
