ohio,

Can't tell if you're playing dumb, or if you're genuinely don't get it.

No expansion now = dead conference. Expand now = conference will stay alive. That simple.

The media is going down the same rabbit hole they went down in July. No presidents are telling them anything, so they talk to "sources" who have no clue. I agree with Bison. Before anybody declares anything is happening or not happening, let's see what comes out on Monday night.

It's two fold:

a) they want clicks -- that has never changed -- and they know that no one will give a crap or remember if they were wrong! The key to that being, just put out a TON of articles and then say "well, no one gets it exactly right every single time"

b) everyone wants to be the "first" to report something. Because that gets you extra credit, or something.

Not even a decade ago, the Big 12 had reached its apex.

In 2008, the Big 12 South had emerged as the best division in college football, headlined by heavyweights Oklahoma and Texas trading blows for conference supremacy and the chance to play for national championships. The Big 12 had just signed one TV deal with ESPN, and was primed to ink another with Fox.

The conference appeared harmonious. And seemed stable.

Since that time, the Big 12 has been in a free fall, culminating with a new low point this year.

"I don't know if the conference has hit rock bottom yet," said one source familiar with Big 12 matters. "But we can see the bottom."

Rock Bottom...
