No team could get 8 votes? hmmmmm....... Texas and TTech left the meeting first, so I assume they cast NO Votes across the board...... who was the 3rd NO? TCU? Baylor? I would assume the Texas schools were told either vote Houston in, or vote no to them all... Basically it wasn't going to happen without Houston. So, it didn't happen at all.

Then to maintain the level of logic that has been used so far, ok goes to the sec west and ok st. goes to the sec east and only play each other every 4 years.

Agree. Big 12 leaders are arrogant fools and will watch as their conference is picked apart because they lack the balls to stand up to Texas. Big 12 want have a team in the playoff because they lack a championship game to compete with the other conferences.

And yes, we're going to stay in CUSA.

however, that didn't happen....so be it....b/c of that, now it is the latter we should be ramping up for....

it's our last chance at aligning with the leftover geographical/rivalry teams that have substance....w/o that happening, southern miss will be relegated to juco status moving forward.....we will forever be cemented in 'woulda, coulda, shoulda if'ns'

is it a gamble?....yep.....is it worth taking the chance?.....IMO, yes....

If y'all want to play the Fantasy Conference game...

Gather up the highest-profile, geographically contiguous Belt/CUSA schools from their respective states and put 'em under the same roof.

West: Rice, La Tech, ULL, Arkansas State, USM, UAB
East: Troy, Middle Tenn., WKU, Ga Southern, App State, Marshall.

A school here & there could be subbed in or out, but you get the point. There are enough legit "B" programs in this quadrant of the country to not have to bother flying over ULL to go play UTEP or begging Charlotte to join the minute they break ground on a stadium. What's outlined above won't ever challenge the SEC in TV ratings, but it'd be pretty fun from a fan's perspective. You could practically day-trip to half the teams in your division. Get people interested, get some real rivalries going. Everything else grows from there.

I forget what the exact rules are on continuous membership in order to maintain NCAA automatic bids, but the example above includes 7 current CUSA schools. You can't just kick out the other 7 to make room, unfortunately, but what if everybody jumps at once and sticks together? Does that still satisfy the requirement? Look into that s*** and make the NCAA give you a ruling on it.
