Bowling Green Home & Home Preview
Well I thought I'd start a thread to talk about this up coming home & home series with Bowling Green. I love opening up the season annually with the home & home series vs Ferris & Bowling Green and hope they continue to do these.

Last year the Bronoco's swept the Falcons with a convincing 4-1 October victory @ Lawson and a narrow 1-0 victory in December in Toledo @ the Huntinton Center. This year the Broncos open up Friday on the road @ BGU Ice Arena and Saturday with the return game @ Lawson.

Lot's of pre-season hype about the Falcons this year, picked to win the WCHA, pre-season ranked @ #14:

Bowling Green Battling High Expectations

But after losing thier first two games of the season last weekend vs WCHA conference floe @ Bemidji, they have already dropped in the ranking's to #20.

Here's some information off the BGU web site that includes a video clip of coach Bergeron talking about last weeks BSU series and the up comming series vs Western:

And here's some information off the WMU web site, check out video clip of coach Murray talking about last weekends series vs Ferris and the up comming series vs BGU:

For those hard core, trash talking Broncos, there is a BGU forum with a Western thread started already:

Also, for those who don't know, Z96.5 usually does a pre-game starting 30 minutes before where you get some insites from the coaching staff on the up-comming game

I guess I'll have to as well. Nothing better than watching Wmu beat bugs in their own barn.

Went to a BG/WMU game in '77 at BG Ice Arena. Doesn't look like it's changed much. In '74 BG came to town to play Western on a Tuesday. The game changed WMU hockey forever. I remember 5000 (4200-4500 reported to press) packed into Lawson (no fire marshal issues then) and the Broncos stomped them, 8-2 I think was final. BG was 8th in the nation at the time. Western only had a handful of kids on scholarship as the transition to D-1 was just starting. If I remember the standouts were Rob Hodge, Phil Eve, Tim Dunlop, Bernie Saunders, maybe Randy Moy. I could be off a couple seasons on some players. Lawson was called the sound room back then and packed most games. This was the first year after leaving the KIA arena (Beer warehouse on 11th St). Good times

BG Seeks Improvement on the Power Play

http://www.bgsuhockey.com/2016/10/notebo...ower-play/

“Their group of forwards seems to be really good,” Bergeron said. “They’re relentless. They’ve got some talent. They’ve got some guys who can really skate. Their forwards are a handful.”

I was at that game - didn't miss a single home game that year. Yes the place was packed to the gills. Wish we could see it that way again! I also remember going to watch them the year (when I was a freshman) before Lawson was built when they played in the beer warehouse. BG was the standard with which we measured our program back in those fledgling days for our program.

I think you forgot Neil Smith.
