So as a U Dub and PAC 12 fan, I'm not worried about any team from the BIGXII beating us out for a playoff spot. The only way that changes is if UW loses twice. Until then I'm not worried
I don't see anyone in the PAC that matches up favorably with Washington. I like their chances to run the table in the PAC.

WVU catches Oklahoma at absolutely the best possible time. Oklahoma would have played Baylor the week before. It's their 8th straight week with a game. Game is at WVU.
I think a huge game for WVU is Saturday vs TCU.

I agree with you but I have seen stranger losses for better teams in my decades of watching college football, so I won't take any game for granted. Hopefully they can do it

We shall see. There's a lot of games between now and then.

Except it was a Buckeye win, in OT. With the Badgers having two conference losses, we'll have a chance to see two weekend from now if the Huskers are for real in the Western division ... if they are, the game the following weekend at Columbus shapes up as a serious test on both sides.

I think the USC that's shown up these last few weeks could easily beat Washington. They could be riding a 5 game winning streak heading into Washington. With the game being very possibly a ABC Saturday Night Football game with all of the pressure on it. All USC has before that game is Cal and Oregon.

RE: This Week In Schadenfreude 2016 -- Week 7
interesting looking at the Gameday locations this year....
Green Bay
Bristol
Louisville
Knoxville
Clemson
Texas A&M
Wisconsin
Alabama(next week)
only 3 teams in the AP top 25 are in the western third of the country. Washington, Boise, and Utah.
The following week will be really interesting. Have 3 good games. Washington/Utah, Clemson Florida St, and Nebraska/Wisconsin. Think the Nebraska/Wisconsin game would be out. It'll be interesting to see if Washington/Utah is selected.

Two schools that have really made the PAC into one of the three best conferences the past 5 years, Stanford and Oregon, are shadows of their recent selves. That is really hurting the PAC. Washington stepping up hasn't been enough to counter it.

I'll agree that Oregon is down, without question.
Stanford is 4-2 and just won in South Bend without there best player. They have wins over Kansas St, USC, UCLA, and Notre Dame. Not bad. There losses are within the PAC to schools on the rise. I'm not sure that should reflect poorly on an entire conference
I think if what you are trying to say is that this changing of the guard in the PAC 12 North hurts the "perception " of the league i will agree. But if you're saying that the league is actually down, i believe you are wrong.

I'd say that add it all up, and for the first time in recent memory (say 5 years at least), the PAC isn't one of the three strongest conferences right now.
And while all the publicity is about the Big 12's angst over their apparent inability to grow their revenues to B1G levels, the PAC is in the same boat.

RE: This Week In Schadenfreude 2016 -- Week 7
The only team that Stanford beat that has a winning record is USC. Kansas St got blown out by 21 to Oklahoma. Notre Dame is 2-5. Neither one of those are good teams at all... Stanford isn't what Stanford has been in recent years.
I mean right now Notre Dame- they have 2 losses to teams with losing records- Michigan St and Duke. Their wins are vs Nevada and Syracuse. in one computer that just uses this year- Anderson Hester- they were 107 entering yesterday. with the #75 SOS. Hardly a good team. And now their schedule gets tougher.
Their 3rd or 4th team- Wash St- has a FCS loss to their name.
The league is actually down this year. It's not what it was last year. last year entering this week- Utah was 3, Cal was 20, Stanford was 10, and UCLA was the 3rd team getting votes. Pac 12 not close to that this year.
The whole poll voting this year really consolidated with ACC/SEC/Big Ten. Last year this upcoming week we had 13 teams from those conferences in the AP top 25. This year past week, we had 16 teams from the 3 conferences. 14 of the top 18.

Throw Boise State into a member of the PAC 12, and they are 2-0 this year against Oregon State and Washington State. Boise State could give Washington a shot for their money if they are in the PAC 12. I wonder if the PAC 12 will give Boise State a Notre Dame type deal as football only to play 6 games with the north teams, and Boise could play 6 games against MWC opponents. The rest of the sports could go either in the WAC or Big West. Boise only get voting rights for football in the PAC 12.

Agree to disagree then. I've said it multiple times over the last few weeks, IMO the SEC and B1G are clearly the best 2 conferences and the ACC and PAC are 3, 3a. There's not a big difference.
Now my belief in this will change if the ACC teams that still have to go out and play the SEC win those games(UGvsGtech, UFvsFSU, etc.) Until then they're on equal ground and if I'm not mistaken Massey and Sagarin agree with me

Yeah ... no.
When I look at the current polls and filter to just the Big Ten and SEC members, that sounds painfully like saying the Vols are near the bottom edge of that "top ten", and much as I love seeing them sneak out with some ugly wins this year, I really can't put them up there to the exclusion of absolutely every PAC12, ACC or Big12 team.
And the Huskers may be there, and they may not ... we won't really know until their two week run against the Badgers then the Buckeyes.
SEC and Big Ten making the "Real Top Five"? I dunno, mebbe, but Washington, WVU, Louisville have to be considered in there in the mix somewhere.
