Orange Bowl race/access bowl race
using this weeks ap ratings-- and assuming for now Washington in playoffs over Michigan....

rose would go to Michigan
sugar would go to Texas A&M

then-
8 Wisconsin
9 Tennessee
10 Nebraska
12 Ole Miss
18 Florida

Notre Dame is done in this race....

so assuming Wisconsin to Orange Bowl

access bowl(Cotton) at large race-
9 Tennessee
10 Nebraska
12 Ole Miss
13 Houston
14 Florida St

Good job deciding to track this, but I would just go by the straight rankings, meaning Michigan in the playoffs.

So as of now:

Playoffs ... Alabama vs Michigan
Playoffs ... Ohio State vs Clemson

Rose ... Wisconsin vs Washington
Sugar ... TAMU vs Baylor
Orange ... Louisville vs Tennessee
Cotton ... Houston vs Nebraska

Can't put Houston in there even though they are ranked higher than BSU because Navy is currently in control of the division that UH is in right now and won't be in the AAC CCG.

Other than Baylor in the Sugar Bowl (I don't think they're that good and don't see the Bears winning the B12), that's actually a pretty darn good NY6 bowl lineup, whether its UH or Boise St. in the Cotton.

Fair point, because the Access spot is reserved for conference champs, not who is ranked higher, and as of now, Houston would not be a conference champ so they would be ineligible. So yes, Boise should be in the Cotton slot.

Lucky for the Cotton Bowl Boise can't bring that with them Davey....on a side note: I would like to see a rematch of Boise vs OU one of these years in Cotton or Fiesta, just for the nostalgia. That one game single handily made Boise a phenomenon. No one would of could have predicted this. I still remember watching that game just for the David Goliath match up. I remember thinking OU would win by 70. It's still hard to believe..
Cheers!

I watched the game, all of it. Was it a great game? Yes. But, I didn't then and still don't now understand why that Fiesta Bowl is So Damn Famous. It has clearly become one of the most famous football games ever played.

And yet, there have been games played this year that were just as exciting. I just don't get it, and no, I'm not a bitter OU fan, I was rooting for Boise.

I think the reason it was so memorable and famous were all the trick plays that Boise made- the incredible comeback, and even the running back proposing to the cheerleader after the game.

What gets lost a bit to history --- Boise State led that game, often by more than 1 score, for every moment from the early 1st quarter until the final 2 minutes of the game. They were honestly the better team for the first 55 minutes.

Then OU tied it, and the pick six - before Boise's game-tying drive and the OT.

Boise's finish was rather "miraculous" --- but they definitely played pretty well throughout.

Only thing I would change that to VT/Miami. VT remaining schedule is very favorable for them to win the Coastal Division. If they beat Miami, they will be in the driver's seat to 11-1 regular season and playing Clemson in the CCG. They won't have the played two FCS teams like UNC did last year.

Really love to see the actual contract deal with the Orange about who decides the replacement teams from the ACC. If the ACC has a say, they would love to send 11-2 Va Tech Coastal Winner to Orange as the ACC Rep, thinking the odds are 11-1 Louisville would get the Access.

Just going off the Top of my head it is the Highest CFP Ranked ACC School not in the CFP...Since I project Clemson to the CFP it would be Louisville...Remember last year when Clemson went to the CFP and FSU which was 2nd in the Atlantic went to the Peach Bowl...UNC which won the Coastal in the scenario you did went to the Russell Athletic Bowl.

From ESPN Brett McMurphy:

In years when the ACC champion or another ACC team qualifies for the four-team national semifinals, then the next highest-ranked ACC team would play in the Orange Bowl.

So no, the ACC can't just do that.

Just wondering ... has there ever been a time where a team not in the CCG ended up higher ranked than the CCG winner???? **I'm talking about after the CCG weekend, not the final rankings for the season.**

I mean, it's technically not disallowed.

I'm just thinking, we already have examples and in-fact it may be common for the CCG loser to end up not being the 2nd highest ranked in the conf. But just wonder would it ever be reasonable think the CCG winner could end up not being the highest ranked in the conf???

Yes. 1996 Big XII. North Division champ was #6 Nebraska, runner up was #8 Colorado. South Division champ was #23 Texas, which won the CCG.
