I think Troy cracks the top 25 if they win the next three.

If we did that means we need to beat GSU, USA and UMASS
would be 7-1 going into the App state game

In all likelihood, it'll be similar to the Miami game. Troy has the running back, receivers and quarterback to do it. It will probably be and grind the clock type of game from App's offense to try to play keep away. Until then, based on Troy's only loss being to Clemson, I would expect you all to be ranked.
If I had an opinion that mattered, your only loss is far more impressive than WMU beating Northwestern and then beating up on middle to lower tier G5 teams. The love fest for WMU began in the off-season and Troy has the Sun Belt stench so I'm not sure that even being 7-1 will get you ranked.

Maybe, but that's 14 teams that they'd have to pass.

I don't really like looking ahead because we have some tough opponents for sure. That said, if we win the next four, we'll be ranked or very very close to it. A win over South Alabama, who has two quality wins, will go a long away. Add a win over an APP team that went 11-2 last year, nearly beat #9 TENN to open the season, and should have a good record going into the Troy game, and Troy will get some serious attention. That's a tall order though.

Way too many bridges to cross yet, but I like this TROY team's focus and unity so it is possible. Many good opponents left to stand in TROY's way.

No. They might crack it if they win out.
GSU, UMass, and USA don't exactly move the needle perception wise.

Mark this day because we'll likely never see it again - all four active FBS teams from Alabama receiving Top 25 votes. Incredible, really.

I think USA and APP would. South has wins over MSU and a ranked SDSU. That would count for something in the eyes of pollsters. APP is regarded as a pretty good team having gone toe to toe with #9 TENN early in the year.

Many of those teams and ones in the top 25 will be playing each other and losing a lot games over the next three. I don't expect Troy to lose the next 3.
One example is Miami they have UNC, VT and ND. They could easily lose all three.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that they lose to UNC, and it's probably a toss up against VT, but there's a better chance of Troy losing 2 of 3 then there is of Miami losing to ND this year. They're awful.

Gotcha but that is just one example. Just saying very few of the teams ahead of them are going to go 3-0 and they probably will. Whether it is UNC or UM both are ahead of Troy and one is going to have a loss.
ND has better players and got rid of VanGonad so it is assured they will trend up...Not biased at all in that assessment.

That is interesting. I wonder what other states have ever been able to make such a claim (all of 4+ schools...).

Yes, but after we beat South Alabama, they'll be 3-3 heading into that game. That and Mississippi State is pretty terrible this season.

No, I'm just confused how South Alabama's 2 wins in OOC play are going to overcome the near loss to Nichols, and the two bad SBC losses they have. Especially enough to give Troy about 74 more points, when it's pretty clear one or two voters had them in their poll this week...max
