Did they just assume that the highest ranked G5 school would be a conference champion?
The lovely catch-22 of this whole "access" system.
Do you schedule tough, hoping to win out and drum up noise for a playoff spot?
Or do you schedule soft, knowing you could rip through your schedule and waiting for other G5 contenders to lose to get an access slot?

Not a very likely scenario tbh. You're talking about Houston winning out including Louisville and also Navy keeping you out of the title game. Lots of football left.
