One thing I've wondered about these lawsuits is when will we start seeing lower levels of football being brought into these cases (ie. high schools, junior high, youth football leagues)? Any good attorney for the universities and the NFL would attempt to mitigate the damage by arguing the damage occurred prior to the player arriving on campus/in the NFL and at worst they exacerbated said injury.

IMHO when the local schools districts and the Pop Warners of the world start getting sued, then we are in for some serious change.

I was watching my son's flag football game and thought to myself that the football is an amazing ball. Easy to throw, easy to catch. It's unlike any other ball. I think there's a future for the sport even if it changes drastically.

I guess in the worst case scenario, football could evolve into something like Ultimate, although flag football would more likely be the survivor. Not being able to run with the ball fixes the most dangerous part of the game - kick returns.
