Week 6 power rankings
1. TROY/APP
3. USA
4. GS (Probably being generous at this point but is 2-1 in conference)
5. NMSU (wins over ULL and New Mexico)
6. ULL
7. GSU (better than their record indicates for sure)
8. Idaho ( Wins over Ulm and UNLV)
9. Texas State (win over Ohio keeps you above stAte for now)
10. stAte (You won but it was a ugly game. 5 turnovers won't win you many)
11. ULM

Just to understand AT's rankings

Arkansas State dominates Georgia Southern in every statistical category, but 5 turnovers mean it narrowly escapes with a win thanks to ineptness out of Georgia Southern.

Somehow, Georgia Southern is ranked 8 spots ahead of Arkansas State in the ensuing rankings

I'm taking the whole season into account. You are 1-4 with a FCS loss. Can you move up soon? Yep.

Both GS and stAte looked bad. But hard to put GS lower with their record. But at their rate they may take a tumble soon.

Most of the conference is a confusing mess right now.

Yes, but who has Georgia Southern beaten? Two of their wins are Savannah and ULM at home, and the third is a road game against a South Alabama team that the jury is still out on as well.

I'm not arguing our placement, I just think you are being very generous to an Eagles team that I'm not certain will finish better than 6-6.

I might be, originally I had them below NMSU. Just basically everyone from 3 down is tough to place. But if GS continues that play they will likely end the season as #6 or worse

RE: Week 6 power rankings
Put Georgia Southern last, they've earned it. Past reputation and accomplishments mean nothing at this point. What we're watching now isn't even the GS of last year, let alone years past.

Take away the Savannah State game, which every FBS team would win, and you have a .500 team with a negative point differential that is trending downward with the meat of its schedule to come. To say they're even an average team at this point would be generous.

Based off of the ranking you all put the Vandals, it is likely Idaho gets to a bowl game this year.

We still have left on the schedule:
NMSU
Appy St.
GSU
TxSt
USA
ULL

RE: Week 6 power rankings
This is the year for all the teams to take advantage of Georgia Southern. You'd be hard pressed to find a fan that will defend the play that is out there right now. Sadly we all know what those players are capable of doing, but looks like we had a big swing and miss on this coaching hire. Could be a rough couple of seasons in Statesboro.

Sadly this was the right year to play and beat Tech. Y'ALL need to figure out a way to make it happen. Every fan that's not GT or UGA is rooting for you in this one.

This looks pretty much like it to me for now but I'm not confident GS can hold onto that 6th spot going forward.

RE: Week 6 power rankings
Based on the likely order of finish (in my mind):

1. Troy
2. App State
3. Arkansas State
4. ULL
5. Georgia Southern
6. New Mexico State
7. GSU
8. Idaho
9. South Alabama
10. Texas State
11. ULM

Obviously USA can be a formidable opponent however two seasons of positive outcomes OOC and negative outcomes in conference play I will write them off. State showed that they have the ability to play offense and defense, it just hasn't come together for four quarters (and it seems that it never will with Anderson). ULL could be 4-1 if the ball had bounced one way or the other a couple of times and it has only bit them once in conference play, this Wednesday will be very telling for them.
