Not really. Houston was overrated to begin with. Heck Fuente failed to beat Temple and Houston last year when he should have. (Focused on VT job)

Yeah, kinda' have to wonder if he's already been talked to by LSU or Texas people about changing jobs. Was distracted and didn't put the prep work in this week. It will be interesting to watch how it plays out, like last year for us with Fuente.

Because everybody knows the best way to make yourself an attractive candidate is to drop a few games.

If you are in negotiations with a program that is a level above you, maybe just maybe you need to lose a game or two to prevent the current program from rising above the program you are negotiating for.

You went off the rails on this one.

Perhaps I wasn't clear about my thoughts - the potential discussions would have been this past week, before the loss (that maybe they weren't prepared for).

Not so sure, the players looked unprepared and that is on the cordinators. The players need to stick with thier assignments when defending the option. Houstons defense didnt do that.

You also have to play a read-and-react type defense... Our D doesnt really do that.. we may struggle a bit with it.

Did not seem to hurt Fuente but as some have said he had that job in the bag before he tanked a few games. Either way LSU is a job that you leave for if you are in Herman's shoes. So is the UT-A job. LSU not waiting until season's end to fire Miles may hasten a decision to give Strong the ax. And don't forget that there's ND now at 2-4. I also believe that Malzahn is a dead man walking. There may be a long list of high profile jobs opening this year.

Makes perfect sense! I suggest we all totally screw up our current job so we'll get hired by a better company! Really?

We could have gone undefeated last year and Virginia Tech still would have been a better job. That said, if that had happened Fuente could have probably waited for a better job to open up.

Here's a theory. Navy is a really good and really disciplined football team that runs an offense that is very unlike what teams see week in and week out and is very hard to prepare for. If you can't stop it, they are going to control the ball for huge chunks of the game. That puts a huge amount of pressure on higher tempo offenses.

That's why we lost to them last year and Houston lost this year.

^^ I see all of that more as fact than 'theory'...just from the few times I watched Navy.
