well, despite the fact my late granma (Bless her soul) was quicker, faster and more elusive than Mullens, I don't know iffen our 2nd string QB could start for most H.S. teams.

Maybe take the R.S. off Howard against LSU? If he didn't even complete a pass, maybe we would finally have a QB who could friggin' run for a first down when he gets in trouble..04-cheers

IF...MAYBE...yeah, I know I walked into it!03-lmfao

Really don't want to lose Howard's redshirt for a game we have zero chance of winning.

With or without Mullens, LSU is going to win by 40+ points.

It doesn't really matter who's at QB. We are undersized. Any QB we put back there will be either running for his life and/or on his back most of the game. Really, LSU is gonna kick us back into the dark ages.

It's bad enough to warrant Nick not starting next week, that's for sure. But I bet he will start because he doesn't want to miss a game like this.

We probably won't look as bad against LSU as we did against the roadrunners...

Despite his glaring weakness as a runner, Nick is a gamer and our only real chance to come out with a "W" (hey! We've done crazy stuff before folks! We thought after the UAB game in '11 we were toast against Hooston, but we were actually as fresh as a slice of batter whipped Sunbeam...03-lmfao)

RE: ...Injury Report on Mullens...
bump for any new info....not trying to stir anything up....just looking for answers from some of the young bucks that may be in the know....

I've had the following injury twice....this is what I think is really going on....I'm not believing the dislocated guise bs from the booth last week...I hope I'm wrong....

How long does a trapezius strain take to completely heal?

https://www.healthtap.com/user_questions...etely-heal

In brief: 12-36 weeks
Any acute strain ( tearing of a muscle) will take at least 2-6 weeks to heal.
It heals with scar tissue where the muscle was injured. It may take unto 3-6 months for the resultant stiffness and strength to return to normal. Physical therapy can speed this process.

I understand Nick is one tough mofo.....but this type injury will make the toughest look feeble....

I spoke with a person close to Nick so I'm pretty sure I know what it is.

I don't know...that's the point....

the trapezium strain is my fear....I've had the injury (x2)....I know that pain and lack of ability to grip....the more you apply grip, the weaker the grip becomes as the pain takes over....

I don't know how many times I have to state, "I hope I'm wrong"

I only know the injury and the impact.....and what I saw Saturday makes me believe that is the issue (especially when Hop stated, "nothing is broken")

TV guys said it was a dislocated thumb, and the bone poked thru the skin........ Either way, that's painful as hell, and won't heal without total rest of the thumb. It will nag him the rest of the season without resting it.

a dislocation that pokes through the skin does more damage than only break through the epidermis...

so yes, rest is the only answer other than surgery....and that ain't happening until after the season...

that kind of rest isn't a luxury at this point in the season.....I know Nick has to be kicking the walls at this point....and wishing he could punch 'em too....

is why it goes back to the 64k question.....how does this play out in 10 days?

If the injury is what I think it is, I would have to agree with you....he can only lower his stock regardless how tough he is...

but my guess is Nick will do what tough guys do and fight through it while divulging full info to the staff so they understand what he can or cannot do....

it's a sticky wicket either way....

I can only hope our staff and players work out the best case to win games with the tooling we currently have available.....

nick doesn't have a chance at the NFL. i love the guy. but not an NFL QB. he likely knows that. anyone with any sense at all knows that. nevertheless, if he did have a chance at the NFL, he wouldnt quit. hes a smart guy, a class act, a VERY tough kid and not a scared, selfish douche.
