Football 2017 Scheduling Tidbits
Looking at the conference schedule rotation., every 2 years we switch off playing teams from the west . So for the 2017 and 2018 we will rotate to play Navy , SMU and Tulane.

Which means we say good bye to Houston , Memphis and Tulsa for 2 years.

http://theamerican.org/documents/2014/12...marked.pdf

Our 2017 home schedule looks like....
Austin Peay
Marshall
Temple
UCF
UConn
SMU

Well at least we have 2 road games easy to get to in 2017 @ Miami and @ Michigan

Brutal.

I'm sure Tubby will be pitching that easy peasey home slate to Bohn as a reason to let him hang around another year.

We finally get to play Navy , not sure if thats good or bad but they should draw well to Nippert when they finally come here in 2018.

I feel like the closest thing we can call a football rivalry in this conference in Houston and Memphis is now shelved for 2 years kinda stinks

A few years ago I was salivating to play a school like Michigan. Big name school that was down. Now..... It will be ugly.

Ugly hardly describes what will happen.

Think Lions and Christians.
Think Nazi Germany and Poland.

I originally thought I would go but the magnitude of the beat down makes me think, stay home.

Horrible is having home games and getting pounded into submission (see, for example, Houston and USF, circa 2016.)

Good God, everything about this program is on a downward spiral. It's like we're sitting in the bottom of a toilet when it's flushed, pretty soon the field will turn blue from all the tidybowl swirling around.

That'd be like playing on Boise State's "Smurf Turf."

I am choosing to see the silver lining in your comparisons.

In both situations, the opposed eventually achieved relief or victory with the help from outside sources. How prophetic...

Yeah but it took centuries for the first example.

And Poland was "rescued" by the Soviets. And subsequently dominated by the Soviets for five more decades. And the "rescue" was purposely paused for a month to allow Germany to finish the Holocaust and kill off most of the Patriots left in Poland. No silver lining there for me.

Herd Football Game at Cincinnati Gets New Date

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall’s 2017 football schedule has received one minor tweak.

The Thundering Herd will now play a non-conference game at the University of Cincinnati on Sept. 30, 2017. The game with the Bearcats was originally scheduled for one week earlier.

On the positive side, we can be TERRIBLE and still find a way to win 6 games.

Not sure we can do that this season. It'll be close.

@Miami-?
UCF-?
@USF-L
Uconn-W
SMU-W
@Tulane-W
@ECU-L

@Navy-L

4-5 on paper with 3 tossups.

Scraping for a bowl bid in the AAC year in year out.

But next year we should have a coach that inspires the team. But he may be handicapped by the bigger and faster recruits that CTT promised.

I'm going to go out on a ledge and say we still have tour own Paul Pasqualoni on the sidelines next year. I could totally see a 7 win season and a ****** bowl victory over a Sunbelt also ran saving his job....if so, he and Bohn can job search together.

I could see us going 6-6 this season and losing by 3 touchdowns to a fired up Sunbelt team, leading to our first losing record since 2010.

People have drawn the comparison with Steve Kragthorpe, but I think Pasqualoni is the more apt comparison.

Seven wins is possible...though there would be no margin for error going forward.

I have never thought a bowl win was likely. Tuberville does not prepare his teams to play in these games and the other team usually comes out a little hungry at least. So I'll always give even a 6-6 Sunbelt team the edge against a Tuberville coached Bearcat squad in a Bowl game. In truth, as a fan, it's embarrassing and I wish we wouldn't go to bowls anymore...even if we had pulled off a 10 win season. It really doesn't matter who the opponent is...we're going to lose the bowl, often in spectacular fashion.
