Similarly: live by the crap schedule, die by the crap schedule. I mean, has anyone else thought about this? In the last month, we've played four nobodies, and yet we've had to travel way out West twice, play in a monsoon, play two teams coming off narrow losses to P5 teams, and tolerate God know what other nuisances. Even if we'd gone 4-0, it's not like anyone would be that pumped about it. What's the strategy? Where's the payoff? You can play crap teams every week, and think you should win, but eventually circumstances are going to tend to drag you down to their level. Better to play the big boys, and when it rains like hell, or they all come down with a virus, or there's a rescheduling and they're coming off a 4 day week, or they have 4 random turnovers, or injuries, or whatever, you'll be the team gunning for the upset.

Unfortunately, word I'm getting from the inside is that our Big Ten application is likely to be declined. Apparently, Iowa's holding a grudge over that logo thing.

And Michigan and Ohio State will only sign off if they get a guarantee that they won't have to play football in South MS until Nov.

Marshall gets us coming off an open date on the 29th but it wont be after a narrow loss to a P5 team.

I see what you did there. I'm not sold on LSU as some juggernaut, though. I've followed them pretty closely for years. There's a certain organizational DNA at that program that's not so great. Yeah, their fans think that now that Les's gone, their Tigers will run like some kind of well-oiled machine. If that in fact happens, it will be the first time in decades that I would describe LSU football that way. Even their 2007 national championship team lost a couple of head-scratchers, experimented with multiple QBs, and generally did weird LSU **** before backing into their title.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say we hang with LSU long enough to frustrate their fans and save face, and then LSU pulls away, winning maybe 38-24 or something like that.

True, the Mighty Fightin' Tigers have had their own TTT-type moments over the years. This is a program that once managed to lose its homecoming game to UAB even with Nick Saban as its head coach. The list of inferior teams that have made things a lot more interesting in Baton Rouge than anyone expected is rather long. I suppose it's difficult to maintain focus with the entire population of a state kissing your ass 24/7.

If we play like we did in San Antonio, we'll lose by 60 if we're lucky, but the roles are flipped this week. We're the ones playing our Super Bowl, and they're the ones coming off a blowout win and looking down the schedule. Heaven knows Yaw-Yaw's not the second coming of 1990s Steve Spurrier.

Do I honestly think we'll win? Hell no. Would I bet the proverbial farm that we won't still be hanging around in the 3rd? Nope. LSU is obviously going to have to do its part to make this a game, but I wouldn't at all put it past them to do just that.
