All that rah rah jumping around stuff may look great to fans but it doesn't mean much. I can remember playing Cincinnati (think it was 2004) when we were like 5-1. We had just gotten ranked in the top 25 for the first time in a few years. The players literally slung open the door to the field house to run on the field. I remember thinking "wow, we just got ranked, the players are fired up, Southern Miss has its swagger back". We proceeded to get beat by about 40 as Gino Gudulee or whatever his name was picked us apart. We went on to finish like 7-5.

I remember that game well (unfortunately). The last half of that season was miserable.
