How can champions be built there when there are no championships?
They have at least four MAC championships built in Rynearson since 2010. Both men and women's track have outdoor championships since then.

Congratulations on your teams win. You were better than us overall. Just to point out your attendance was about 350 people. I counted them. Nowhere near the 2,000 that was quoted as always showing up at Rynearson.
You went to a football game and counted people (and didn't even count correctly)?
I went to the football game, and watched the game.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Well, at least he didn't have to try to count that high for EMU's total yardage.

RE: EMU game thread
Was that "Rocket Defense"? Maybe you have to give EMU some credit for being an improved team, but it was disconcerting seeing Roback hitting receivers with nobody within 5-10 yards of them in the 2nd half. It was almost like we were playing a prevent style of defense. That isn't going to cut it against Western Michigan. They'll be gaining 25 yards every down. I don't know how much room there is for improvement at this point in the season, but I hope a lot.
BGSUx may be down, but big rivalry games can become shockers. We also have to play the top 2 teams in the East. After CMU we have a short week to prepare for Ohio. Northern is down, but they played Western pretty tough for 3 quarters. The only thing I now see close to an assumed win is Ball State. I love our offense, but the defense the past 2 weeks causes me to be less optimistic on the season overall.

Agree. D has to start playing a lot better. We put zero pressure on Roback yesterday and we continue to let the ball get outside on the run. Keeping outside contain is football 101 in any defensive scheme and we don't do a very good job of it. We need to start playing better week by week. For some reason, we always seem to play our best football early in the season and fade down the stretch. Playing like we did yesterday, won't cut it against WMU. Been along time since we played big in our biggest games. BG aside. But the MAC Championship has doesn't go through BG. We have to win MAC West first.

Agree with the above posts...we had zero sacks and what looked like zero QB hurries yesterday...not good.

Agreed. We didn't play our best, especially on D. Last two outings and the D is looking like it it needs some retooling before we face some of the better offenses in the MAC, or we will be seeing MACtion shootouts on ESPN as we used to be accustomed to. Running game was pretty good, Woodside was sharp, and it helped us to control possession when we needed to (37 minutes TOL, 23 minutes EMU).
EMU is no doubt much improved on the lines, and definitely on the DL. That really helps them stay in games, but their skilled positions are still pretty much EMU of the past. Their running game is weak (leading rusher had 21 yds, 62 total rushing yds). Thank god they don't still have Bronson Hill! They had 212 yds rushing against BGSucks the week before, but I think our 4th string RB can likely manage that on his own against the Foulcan'ts (not sure if I just invented this term or not?!).
We'll see how EMU fairs the next two weeks @Ohio and then @WMU. If they lose next week @Ohio, they will likely drop to 4-4 after the WMU game and will need to really step it up if they want to go bowling. I see them finishing 6-6, 5-7 perhaps. A win is a win, but I see a challenging road for the Rockets if they want a MACC, unless the D can really improve from what we have seen the last two weeks.

EMU lost soph Shaq Vann for the season early in week 2. He was the starter and an All-MAC candidate. The two guys you saw yesterday had basically zero experience coming into this season. All 3 should be in the picture for the next 3 seasons.
Give your DL some credit. They stuffed the middle very well.

RE: EMU game thread
Thoughts about Saturdays game..... DT Davis played a lot as back up inside for Moore and Hester, they are trying to get him ready. Skipper looked better getting off blocks at DE. Not sure if Mark Myers has been playing last two weeks. We have some promising young Dbs. Whitmer grad Jack Lynch keeps getting more and more reps at Lb. I was disappointed in the UT crowd.... few hundred, great day to be outdoors, should of had a couple thou. EMU had a great turnout, good for them.

I don't know what I'd base on that we didn't play our best D. That might be our best at this time. Lots of growing still to do on that side of the ball.
Smart for the coaches to shoot for depth, even if it gives up a few scores. The team will need it to get to the MACC.
