But it's also obvious that the biggest and best CFB matches go on OTA. That is generally true.

When I was a kid in the 80's and 90's all the big bowls were OTA and a few bowls were on cable tv. Now, only 1 or 2 bowls are on OTA. The Sun (CBS) and The Las Vegas (ABC). The trend is the opposite.

Regular season, the biggest games go on OTA, still. Not 100%. But mostly. And so, with nothing else of importance playing on FOX today, and with it being a huge game that national people would care about ...... seems brainless to not put it on FOX (OTA).

Who ordered FS1 just for the RRR game today? Doubt many.

That said, the major OTA networks had/have the following for today:

Noon slot: ABC - Notre Dame NC State, CBS - none, FOX - none
Afternoon slot: ABC - BYU Mich State/VT UNC, CBS - Texas A&M Tennessee, FOX - none
Evening slot: ABC - FL St Miami, CBS - none, FOX - Washington Oregon


There is no reason they couldn't have put Texas Oklahoma on FOX either the noon slot or afternoon slot.

Well, here was zero chance of it being on in the afternoon as this game is always at 11:00. And I believe fox originally had a baseball game scheduled that was rained out. But I'm it 100% on which channel the game was supposed to be on.

But basically fox purposely chose to put this game on FS1, much like ESPN used to out the Duke/UNC basketball game on ESPN 2 to drive up interest for the channel.

Also at this point, it's really not a "marquee" game this year.

That's why I made the comment about baseball in the OP.

I figured it had to be baseball. Didn't know the game got rained out. That makes sense.

Because it was supposed to be the NLDS but that was rained out.

Also this whole idea that every big game HAS to be on OTA is just stupid. Bunch of folks who don't know how TV works acting like they know what they are talking about.

Maybe wait until you hit 1000 posts before acting like you have earned the right to call anyone out.
