I believe that we are inside 5 minutes to kickoff for today's key matchup between our beloved, yet struggling Rice Owls and the recently resurgent Open Date squad. While recent reports have Open Date as more than a 2TD favorite, others feel that this could be the breakthrough week for Rice.

Let's have a little fun with this. A couple of proposed ground rules.. Post up what you think might happen next - one play or one set of downs at a time. Give at least 5 minutes between posts by any one poster, and re-refresh your browsers before posting so it can keep up a little coherency (within the obvious suspension of disbelief)

And now, let's get down to the action for opening kickoff...

The Owls have won the toss and have elected to kick. It's out through the end zone on one bounce! The Open Date "Figs" will start it 1st an 10 from their 25.

Four plays net nothing for the Figs.
Not sure why they didn't punt there on fourth down, but then, I don't see a punter on their roster.
Owls take over on downs with the "gift", at Open Date's 24 yard line!

Time out. Rice.

15 yards straight up the middle for Rice before getting tripped up at the 9, and we've got First and Goal to go!

Next play we're untouched into the end zone for a 6-0 lead!

Oops, it looks like that PAT is blocked and they're going the other way for the 2 pointer. Now 6-2 Rice leads.

Owls kick off again and it looks like another touchback will set up the Open Dates from the 25 again

After 1Q Rice still leads 6-2, now with the ball deep in opposition territory.

pathetic... BEAT OFF WEEK!!...

DROP FOOTBALL, for CREW, Squash and ladies table tennis... and save LOTS of MONEY!!

Really nice run to start the second quarter, 82 yards to paydirt.
Refs scored it as a safety, claiming that the teams had changed ends for the quarter. Rice challenged, upheld on review.
Mostly a lot of meerkat staredown since then. At the half: Rice 6, Open Date 4.

Fairly sloppy third quarter, no score but advantage Owls as we now have it deep in Open Date territory first and goal. Still 6-4 Rice leads.

Where are all of the students? The student section looks empty.

TD Rice! and in a shocker, go for the 2 PT conversion. It's good -- and Rice leads 14-6 with the Figs OT possession upcoming!

That was an awesome MOB show - really nailed Open Date for its lack of commitment to educational quality and empty promises made to its students.

Figs OT possession and they put the ball on the ground. Owls pick it up!

No.. Don't return it -just take a knee!

We return it anyway for the defensive TD- final score Rice 20, Open Date 6, and as a bonus we've set the NCAA record for largest margin of victory in an overtime game!

Fun Fact: Open Date students graduate with the lowest average student debt among FBS schools.
