Just saw a blurb on Channel 5 re Coach Norvell appearing at three local high school games via helicopter. What a unique way to show up.

1. Allows him to make an appearance at several sites in an evening.

2. Has to make an impression on local players. We are accustomed to seeing the news copter fly over, but landing at the field is different.

3. Imagine family and friends saying "yeah, the Memphis Coach just landed at ______'s game to watch him play".

This should dispel any lingering thoughts that Memphis does not recruit local kids hard enough.

I know Texas A&M has been doing this because Head Football Coach Kevin Sumlin used a helicopter landing to recruit Myles Garrett at Arlington Martin. He ended up signing Garrett and the landing of the helicopter ended up on the TV news in Dallas. The landing by Norvell probably got coverage in the local media.

He is much safer flying in a helicopter with a professional pilot than he is driving to the heliport.
