03-lmfao 03-lmfao.

I'm a rehabbed Cubs fans. IOW I don't care. 07-coffee3

First in person game I went to my Dad took me to old Comiskey Park to see the Orioles vs Nellie Fox and the Sox in '63. Sat behind an I beam. Precursor to split screen viewing.

But Sox were relegated to FM radio and UHF TV. For you youngins that is channel 900 and higher on your cable plan.

The Cubs played only day games and before Maury Povich and Oprah afternoon TV on WGN was filled by the lovable loser Cubs. So at 3:45 when I'd get home from 2nd grade or so I would catch the last inning or two or watch Jack Brickhouse and Vince Lloyd do HFC Finance 10th inning game review with highlights.

Then I'd gather my neighborhood chums and we'd play stick ball in the street emulating the batting stances, pitching quirks and OF basket catches of the pro's we'd see.

Before division play the Cubs were lost in the morass of 10 team league standings and only got off the bottom of the pile with the advent of the NY Mets, Houston Astros and eventually the Montreal Expos.

But in the late 60's with Fergie Jenkins, Ken Holtzman and Bill Hands pitching with Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Don Kessinger, Glenn Beckert Ernie Banks and Randy Hundley fielding and hitting the CC's began a climb to the top. '69 was epic. 12 games up or so and wound up losing it by 3 or 4 to the Muts (Seaver, Koosman, Gentry and Nolan Ryan stuck in the bullpen [not good enough]).

In '84 with Rick Sutcliffe, Dennis Eckersley and Steve Trout starting and Ryne Sandberg, Ron Cey, Larry Bowa, Leon Durham etc fielding and hitting the Cubs were up 2-0 on Padres in best of 5. Only to see it all go away as a Alan Wiggins grounder went between the wickets of Bill Buckner's replacement (traded 2 months earlier to Bosox) Leon Durham.

By the time Bartman came around life was too busy to be really concerned. Cub fandom was Yuppie like, $ driven and as Nacho called college basketball Pussified. Watching adults bemoan the "Curse" and how THEIR lives were crushed and THEY were denied oxygen?, no just a stinking win in baseball. I had have no empathy for those who's self esteem is so tied to being puffy chested about something they have no influence on.

But I digress.

Wait, Rahm Emmanual is Cubs fan. 03-idea

Ok, I hope they get swept just so I can see this guy have to go back to the reality of the mess he has created and fostered in Chicago.01-rivals

Have a nice day! COGS
