Tubs mentioned on his radio show this week that with the change in offense, we are going to need to kick a lot of field goals. So, he has already given up on scoring a lot of touchdowns. And with Gantz out, I would guess the number of made field goals will drop also.

Not correct, Purdue beat Nevada. Nevada is a d1 program.

What happened to not being satisfied unless we were competing for conference titles , national rankings and big bowl games (and wins).

Do you think that attitude is similar to coach Cronin's quote that the best UC can hope for is to make the tournament every year? (as opposed to an elite 8 or final 4 run?). Seems like a similar sentiment, but without the vitriol from this board aimed at him.

I have never heard Mick say that and would love to see that quote. Had to be a complete misquote or out of context. No way would he say that. In fact, I think Mick's bar is way higher than what you guys have mentioned. I think he'd tell you conference championships and final fours. And competing for the national title. You won't get there every year, but that is for damn sure the goal.

I heard about half the show as I was stuck in the car waiting to pick up my wife from a meeting. The first ten minutes of the show seemed to be explaining how our big problem against USF was third down conversions.

Also how we got no interceptions because USF ran an offense that forced us to play man to man, where none of the defenders can watch the ball, only the receiver. Said we got interceptions against Purdue because their offense let us play a zone where our defenders could see the ball. I hope our future opponents allow us to play a zone.

Bringing Mick into this discussion is a piss poor diversion tactic. I have been quite critical of Mick in the past but will wait until the coming season is underway to reevaluate his performance. Some reasons to be optimistic with men's BB.

I also had some optimism coming into the FB season but it didn't take long for our coach to turn that into despair.

Mick came in with nothing and made it something, TT came in with something and made it nothing.

Yeah... Mick is far and away better than Tubs but self depreciating humor is innocuous at this point. The damage is done. Tubs has way too much talent on his team to post the kind of record he's going to. Certainly more than should be needed to beat Miami by one lousy score like he's done for the past 3 years.
