I am not sure how anyone can argue the 16 team Big East, with Pitt, Cuse, WVU, Louisville, Rutgers, and TCU, The Catholic 7, and ND (non football), with the then largest footprint in college sports, is "similar" to the current AAC, despite sharing only 3 teams in common.

I've been saying for months that this should be the position of every Big 12 school other than UT and OU...

What possible motive does UT or OU have to extend the GOR? They get to pick the expansion candidate? Whoopadeedoo...they basically have that authority now. And frankly I don't think OU or UT care that much about getting UH or Cincy into the B12 that they would forfeit millions of dollars that could be gained from a move to the B1G or SEC (or possibly obtaining a Notre Dame-type independent deal with the ACC).

The analogy to a high-profile free agent near the end of his contact is perfect. There is no higher-profile school than UT in this process - they control their own destiny. As does OU. Why give that up just to get "their choice" of expansion candidate? Makes no sense.

As always, follow the money and you will find the answer. 03-idea
I have no doubt that Texas and/or Oklahoma would do those things, given the chance. However, working against them is actually getting that bid from the SEC, ACC, or B1G. I'm thinking that maybe the conferences are done expanding now, either by choice or by force. I don't really think the B1G is that interested in Texas, especially when they have come out and said that they want Notre Dame, UVa, and/or UNC. The SEC already has penetration into the state of Texas, and Oklahoma wouldn't really add anything when you really think about it. As for the ACC, the fact that NC State and Duke want to schedule an OOC game just to play each other should tell you all that you need to know about that.
It's crazy, definitely non-traditional, and probably insane (traditionalists might want to skip this part of my post), but...get ready for it.....Texas and Oklahoma might want to consider moving their game to...Thanksgiving rivalry weekend!! When you really think about it, those two teams are each other's biggest rivals anyway, so why not save the best for last? Move the Texas State Fair to November too, because it would soon be a huge novelty event!! No other state that I know of or have googled has a state fair around Thanksgiving, so this could be something big for the state of Texas!!
