At this point I'm starting to question if he knows how to spell Gary.

Yeah first one, I'll give you a pass on...but not being able to name any world leaders is pretty bad. I'm sure a lot of Americans can't name any foreign leaders, but they're not running for president.

*sigh*

Good lord, Gary. You've known for weeks now that the MSM/DNC alliance is going full throttle on you to grab your 8-9% for Hillary, focusing almost entirely on foreign policy "pop quizzes" to grab soundbites. I would've expected you to brush up on the basics.

I admit it. I think Gary would be best using sound judgement behind a desk, weighing options, consulting advisers, etc. But he simply cannot hit Major League pitching on the campaign trail, tap dancing in the spotlight, off the cuff.

Great guy, solid fiscal conservative/socially liberal platform. But I had no idea he'd be this unprepared. Ron Paul, he is not.

I guess if I could offer one piece of spin here: If this were the late 1960s, I'd prefer a president who didn't know Hue or the capital of Cambodia, yet didn't send one serviceman over there.

it is pretty juvenile to attack him like this, i'd be annoyed too. but, can he allay doubts on his knowledge of foreign affairs?

EXCELLENT point

He brought a lot of this on himself. He can't get annoyed when people ask him dumb questions.

Asking who the leader of Botswana is would be a gotcha question, not North Korea.

There was a 10% chance I was going to pull for Johnson-Weld. Now it's probably 0%.

Its not like we talk to the guy.

So his no comment is stretched to insist he doesn't know it.

His answer should have been

Where on the on the list of Americans concerns is the leader of North Korea and what his name is... now do you have a question that at least ranks in the top 100 of what Americans actually care about

The man made a dumb mistake on a Syrian city but that does not mean you have to question him on every single foreign leader at an elementary level. The title of this thread is kinda misleading.

Yeah, could have been a gotcha moment. Basically, the media, on both sides, fear GJ may take votes away from the establishment so every opportunity to get a silly comment, etc will be sought.
The question was insulting and his reaction was appropriate.07-coffee3

He doesn't have to be perfect. He just has to be better than the other two. And nothing suggests that he isn't.

It's unfortunate the Libertarians didn't "discover" Weld before Johnson won the nomination. With these two major party candidates Weld could have made significant gains with moderates. With "normal" two party candidates I don't think Weld or any Libertarian would have made a significant dent. This was a lost opportunity to break the Two Party Dictatorship.

Johnson has named North Korea and Kim Jong-un by name as a major threat on numerous occasions in the past. Of course the media doesn't know that and wouldn't acknowledge it if they did.

As a side note I kind of disagree with him on the issue but there you go.
