Evans will probably play fewer minutes as well, assuming the increased depth allows for more tempo on offense and defense.

That was my first thought as well. Evans took over the offense at the end of games last year as we were either trying to hold a lead or trying to come back. We have so many more options this year. His minutes will be reduced, but I still look for him to have the most on the team.

This preview has us 6th. The text sounds like the guy has done his research:

This one (that sounds less knowledgeable) has us 11th:

As a whole, the conference should be better than last year. UAB returns basically everyone from a good team last year. WKU has a new coach and a bunch of new talent.

While positive, I'm not sure how knowledgeable that midmajormadness review really was. It focused almost exclusively on Evans (which doesn't take any research), and fails to mention Lott or any of the true Freshmen. The biggest difference between this year's team and last year's is the dramatic increase in depth....and quality depth at that. Yes, we're extremely young, but that has proven to be far less a factor-- at least recently-- in college basketball vis-a-vis the other NCAA sports.

I think we're being severally misunderestimated.

I'm sure it was NOT a knowledgeable write-up on Rice. He mentions that Rice hasn't done a good job building around Marcus Evans. He must have forgot that Evans was a freshman last year and the only way to build around him is to bring in more depth and talent, both of which Rhoades has done. Ako Adams continues to impress in practice and the talent/depth at guard is exciting. My concern is at the 5. Which should allow Letcher-Ellis to excel at the 4 where bodily abuse (given and taken) are not required as much. Meyer looked extremely athletic in the first practice video and hoping that he can catch on quickly but at least bring that athleticism and speed to beat the opponent's 5 down the court for some easy buckets. I am assuming the tempo, speed, defensive presses will increase with this added depth.

9th place finish predicted by NBC Sports, but I don't take too much stock in the NBC, ESPN, CBS, etc. predictions because they rarely do any research.

RE: 2016-2017 Basketball season is here
I care a lot more about how many games we win than how many minutes a given player records or how many all-CUSA players we have.

I thought (pls correct me if I have it wrong) that Rhoades was a high tempo, pressing team that relied on depth and conditioning to wear down opponents. So how good our best player is by design less important in his system.

Btw, I haven't seen a lot of discussion of Navy Seal training this year. If that was indeed put on the shelf, I'll take that as an extremely bullish sign about this year's team. I assumed it was a gimmick to distract attention from our bottom decile roster in his first year.

Not a gimmick-- both Rhoades and Shaka Smart continue to do Seal training as a way of forging a team-first bond as well as improved conditioning. Especially critical with such a young team with so many newcomers. It occurred a couple weeks ago.

Sort of looks like the MTSU network especially on the ladies side. Also would like to see S Miss excluded since they failed to join the CUSA streaming network..seems they deserve some punishment.

Are Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, North Texas and Charlotte the only C-USA schools/gyms where ESPN3-quality streaming can originate?
