B12 expansion was vaporware from its inception

It is dead conference walking but it likely will expand still. Ride the contract out then go your own way after 8 years.

Clickbait trash. I would take my click back, if I could.

"Sources said". 07-coffee3 That's all you need to know.

Also, vandiver and others -- now is your chance. Explain your position. What does the GoR have anything to do with expansion?????

If true then that tells me they are going to expand.

It's unfortunate for OU and UT, they're going to find it's going to be a lot harder to make the playoffs in the other 4 conferences.

I doubt they'll extend the GOR, but is Dodd really the go-to guy on this?

If they don't expand this is what will happen

1) The AAC will end up with a much better TV contract.

2) When OU/OSU/UT/TT leave the B12 wont have enough to retain power status or attract members from the AAC.

By expanding by 2 now, it tips the balance in favor of the B12 post raid over the AAC and ensures P5 status.

Only Texas and Oklahoma will leave. Oklahoma is eying SEC and Big 10, and Texas is eying the ACC. I don't see any others will leave because they are not wanted.

Well, I wait for the official work but if B12 does not expand. The ACC should immediately offer Houston to get into the Houston Market. Followed by ND first right of refusal to join full, if they decline, then offer Navy football only. This setup provides for a 16 team Football and Basketball conference.

Navy - DC market and National Appeal
Houston - Texas and #5 TV market for ACC NETWORK
Forces 9 game conference schedule. 1 Cross Division and 1 Rival game

Minimal Damage to AAC. Replace with Rice and Army.

Allows the other 3 conferences to devour Big 12 in 2025.

FSU vs Miami
NCSU vs UNC
Clemson vs Louisville
Wake vs Duke
Pitt vs Navy
BC vs Syc
UVA vs VT
GT vs Houston

I think Oklahoma and Kansas wind up in the B1G and Texas winds up independent/ACC non football with the same deal Notre Dame has.

The B12 remnants will add UH and the entire AAC East division except for ECU. 03-pissed

East - Connecticut - Cincinnati - Memphis - South Florida - Temple - UCF - WVU
West - Baylor - Houston - Iowa State - Kansas State - Oklahoma State - TCU - Texas Tech

Maybe that is correct but I still think they are in a much better position at 12 than 10 moving forward.

I get that when they last expanded 5 years ago they werent seeing 2 more quality schools out there but times have changed.

Simply add Houston to the Atlantic and Navy to the Coastal.

Which would be better for the leftover Big 12 schools?
A) Big 12 conference leftovers + some AAC schools on a weakened media contract
B) AAC schools with a relatively better TV contract + the Big 12 leftovers.

Obviously as it stands right now, Big 12 is better but if things fall apart quickly enough, perhaps the AAC is actually a better and more stable spot for some of the schools. Just a thought, not holding that position firmly.

it just another step in DavidSt's mad Tech conference dream

ACC already has Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
ACC adds Texas and little brother Texas Tech.
Soon the world will clamor for Louisiana Tech to be added.

Next step, the Wonderboys of Arkansas Tech.

RE: CBS Sports: Looks like no GoR extension for the Big XII
From the article -

Now let's take a look at those Big 12 expansion prospects:

1. Houston: As one observer put it, "How does the Big 12 not invite Houston now?" Money, facilities and a hot coach on a playoff run make it almost impossible if the league expands.

2. Cincinnati: The school has been diligent in its approach. Cincinnati gives the Big 12 a balanced geographic league with another team east of the Mississippi.

3. BYU: No. 1 football prospect, but remember, presidents are making the call here. They don't want protests outside their stadiums regarding social issues.

4. UCF: The Big 12 doesn't have to play in Florida to be able to recruit in Florida.

5. South Florida: Its presentation alone to the Big 12 could make it No. 1. But there are other factors -- starting with UCF being a competitor right down the road.

6. Air Force: Tasty option because of Troy Calhoun's tasty (triple) option. Great combination of academics, competitive football and scenery.

7. Connecticut: If this was basketball-only, the Huskies would be in. If it's football-only, UConn is a longshot.

8. Colorado State: CSU does not deliver Denver. CSU does not deliver Denver. CSU does not deliver Denver. Am I making myself clear?

9. Tulane: Only one of two Association of American Universities member on this list (Rice is the other). Ask your local faculty rep how big a deal that is.

10. SMU: If it's all about inviting a candidate near Bob Bowlsby's Dallas home ...

11. Rice: School president David Leebron can wow them at the next faculty mixer. "Yeah, I can't believe we were Big 12 expansion finalists either."

I wonder if those were his projected rankings or rankings from a source.
