Exclamation Troy at BYE discussion thread
I figured I'd create a general discussion thread about all things Troy since we have a lot of new Troy fans on the site and nearly two weeks without a game.

We are 33rd on the Massey Composite and 59th in Jeff Sagarin's Ratings. Jacksonville State is currently 84th, which may be why they haven't been crowing over here this year.

Our next opponent, Georgia State ranks dead last in the country in several major offensive categories. As long as we show up to play and aren't lethargic after a week off, we should handle them. Looking forward to it and hopefully we'll be 5-1 heading into South Alabama.

The South Alabama versus Troy game could very well settle the Sun Belt crown, can't wait to see this one! I hope you guys can manage to score more than the 17 we were able to rack up on Georgia State.

Too early for that. The SBC champ could have one loss. I'm not sure anyone will get out unscathed.

Knowing South Alabama, they'll blow their Saturday game vs Arkansas State to save up energy for their Thursday matchup with us.

Sounds about right.

That said, no way our guys over look them. after last year and bowl eligibility possibly on the line I think they should be fired up.

RE: Troy at BYE discussion thread
I am ready for the GaSt game. I am not over-looking any game this year. After 5 straight .500 or below seasons, no game can be over-looked and every team can win at any given time. I believe we win this game in the second installment of retribution road as HCNB has coined it.

With that said...this TROY team is different than maybe any I've had the pleasure of witnessing.

First, The coaching staff top to bottom is the best arrangement of collective football minds TROY has ever put together. I personally got a big dream to come true when 2 of my top 4 head coaching candidates to replace Larry Blakeney just happened to end up on this staff at the same time. An offensive mastermind paired with a defensive guru...I could not have planned that better myself. Matter of fact when Tony Franklin and Neal Brown first cam to TROY in 2006, I commented several times that if we could get Vic Koenning back to be DC while running the air raid spread of Tony Franklin/Neal Brown that TROY would be a force to truly be reckoned with. I have read on here many asking what is the difference in TROY...the pairing of these 2 football coaches has made the biggest difference because of their knowledge and coaching ability. Not to mention they have surrounded themselves with an all-star team of position coaches and coordinators.

Secondly, this team has bought into the coaching philosophies of this staff. Many different players comment numerous times in their interviews with the media about trusting the coaches to put them in positions to win games. They believe in the coaches and the coaches believe in them. The 100% support of each team member by every other team member is very evident. The egos don't seem to be out of control. They are more a band of TROJAN brothers going to battle each week. And they are talented...very talented!!! I have heard HCNB say numerous times about several players on both sides of the ball having very good chances of playing on Sundays.

Last, the fans and the STUDENTS have bought into this team and this program. I am most encouraged by the latter. The student section was expanded and is full and loud. HCNB makes time to go out onto campus and visit with students 3 times per week based on comments from an interview I heard with him. How many FBS head coaches do that? I believe this home coming crowd will be a very large crowd. So GaSt will have a hostile environment to enter when they visit Veterans Memorial Stadium in a couple weeks.

Go TROJANS!!!
Cry HAVOC!!!

We've never beaten Arkansas State and CJJ has already said that this is a check mark on the list he wants done this year. So, no way we overlook it to save up for Troy. Still though we usually follow up a game like SDSU with something fubar.

I look forward to watching the Troy/USA game... especially because of the banter between AT and Skully.

Y'all need to have something on the line for this game btw.
