Notre Dame shows class
Player targets SC running back, knocking him out, gets called for targeting on replay and gets congratulated by everyone as he leaves the field. But #28 was a bang bang play. What was really classy was #99. He walked over and kicked the hurt, possibly seriously, USC player. Refs didn't see it. They did see the 2nd stomp.

There's no place for this in the game anywhere. If he isn't dismissed from the team then shame on N.D.!

Yeah, that play was about as ugly as it gets.

RE: Notre Dame shows class
That type of thing should get you a season-ending penalty. And in the case of the last game of the season, a ban on the upcoming season.

(There's not much you can do about a graduate...)

Stomping a down player is beyond "targeting." It's really battery...a legal issue. It's outside the play of the game (the play is over) so you can't argue that it was a consequence of game play...) and it's a defenseless person.

I seem to remember an NHL player actually being arrested for assault (battery) with a weapon for using a stick in a fight. The NCAA could and should levy this type of penalty...your season is done...for an action like this.

Unsurprising given the program.

I am not a ND fan, but ND still has higher standards in CF than most. We will see what happens.

RE: Notre Dame shows class
I think that he should be dismissed from the program.

I thought he was a good kid until yesterday:

"Despite outward appearances, Tillery is more than his frame — than his position. He looks like an athlete, moves like an athlete, travels like an explorer and studies like a scholar. He served as the campaign manager for friends running for student body president last winter, and has openly mulled the possibility of eventually becoming a doctor.

Last summer, Tillery ventured to South Africa on a study-abroad trip with his fellow students. During the bye week last fall, he visited Ireland. Prior to the start of practice this spring, he trekked with his godmother through Germany, France and Poland.

This summer, he plans to participate in another study abroad program — this one destined to take place in Jerusalem.

“I’m trying to take full advantage of this experience,” Tillery said with a grin. “I know there’s a lot to offer.”

RE: Notre Dame shows class
I don't know why people still buy into this fairytale? It's honestly a little bit weird in this day and age – With all of the information we have at our disposal – to believe that Notre Dame should be held to a higher standard than everyone else.

No, they shouldn't.

Also, the Notre Dame fans are in complete denial if they honestly believe that their kids are somehow more ethical than the average student – athlete at any other school. It's called propaganda, guys. Why on earth would anyone believe in that nonsense in this day and age?

It's honestly more than a little bizarre.
