RE: Week 6 Homecoming 2016 Broncos vs. Northern Illinois
I read a lot of the comments here and it reminded me of the comments going into last years game against GA Southern. We were crushed in that game.
I've been looking at this game for a few weeks now. It's a trap game for us, big time. At this level, if you look past a single opponent, you are destined to lose. NIU still has a pretty high talent level and if they put it all together in a game, they could be pretty tough to beat. If NIU gets a lead, and the belief level goes up as a consequence, they could gain significant momentum in the game. "Heads up!"
Just sayin.

So if we don't, we get to keep Peej in Kzoo longer??
I don't Expect us to smoke NIU. They played like they should have from the beginning of the year against @BSU. Thing is, off one game it's hard to tell, but with Maddie behind the helm (which I always thought that would be their best choice before this year started) -- they're getting into rhythm to be around what they should. Not to NIU-dreamy status of course, no. But to be as tough as an 8-4 MAC team. One game isn't a whole lot to go on, so we'll have to see.
Regardless, it's at home, we want revenge -- no excuse to lose. Or to even have to barely-win-with-some-luck. But nobody should Expect to smoke them where anything less would be awful. They're not a run-of-the-mill 1-4 team... at least that's what they showed. We shall see, though.

Yeah, totally a trap game, that's why the line is -19.5 right now.
My favorite quote: "You don't have to be on the football team to row the boat."
I see Coach has been exposed to Maslow's Heirarchy and the theory of self actualization. The base level of the Heirarchy is you must feel safe, loved, and part of the group. Sweet.
And for real, we have access to some elite medical systems here. I've heard WMU will be adding a physical therapy program soon. We seem to specialize in bringing in recruits that are first class but drop off the P5 radar due to injuries in high school.
Jason Babin, David Kool, and Tranquil come to mind. Then rehab and return to serviceable condition. Likewise injuries get first class care here. I like that.

He at least does a better press conference than our coach. Not that that's setting a very high bar. In the end, I don't care if the coach is gruff an uncommunicative if the program is strong. And I guess none of the coaches really tell you much anyway, mostly coach-speak.

You all know Momba is saying this to get our goats. He wants us to lose always, and wants fleck to appear to be an idiot if we do. We all know that NIU has had its way with the MAC, and WMU in particular, for several years, and was picked again to be one of the best in the conference; even if coming into this game after a bad start. We certainly should win, and I think we will, but NIU made a big change at qb last game, and it paid immediate dividends.
At least we are to the point with the program that the fleck haters are openly conceeding he has brought the program to the level where every single game they think we will win huge. I guess that what therapist tell them to do instead of admitting outwardly that they were wrong.

1. Congrats on the ranking for the first time ever
2. WMU will win, but won't cover
3. I expect Terrell to do what he does vs NIU, get tight and struggle
4. Maddie should have a nice game
5. Davis is going to obliterate the secondary that has a terrible Allen at safety and is very banged up at corner. (This might seem contrary to point 3, but it's because Davis is good)

I agree with 1 and 5.
But NIU is going to lose BIG Saturday.
So basically like WMU for the better half of a decade?
In all seriousness, WMU looks good. I just think it will be closer more because of the constant theme of them playing tight against NIU and NIU forcing mistakes. This isn't a common NIU team, but same could be said for WMU, they've never been here before.

Terrell, through 5 games (including two Big 10 teams):
- 69.7% completion percentage
- 12 touchdowns
- 0 interceptions
- 7 sacks
NIU's defense only has 7 sacks on the year and is giving up 265 passing yards per game.
What makes you think Terrell is going to be playing tight and making mistakes?

The same could have been said in both 2014 and 2015. Terrell threw 10 interceptions in 2014, 2 to NIU. He threw 9 interceptions last year, 2 to NIU. His QBR in those games is not above 50, he traditionally was around the 70s for those two seasons.
I think Terrell is an excellent bus driver, and I would take him on NIU, but I don't think he's a guy that wins games for a team, but he can lose them. Which is okay when you throw to Davis and handoff to that duo.
NIU is going to lose, but Terrell will be the real Terrell when forced to try and beat a team.

History, see below.
NIUs defense sucks this year, but ask Toledo about their QB play vs NIU when they had otherwise been other worldly. Also the Illini are Big 10 in name only.
