EMU, the feel good story of 2016.
The Tigers bowed out Sunday. The Lions too. Sparty might be like the Lions.
WMU is too far from Detroit for Detroiters to cheer for.
Go EMU. Be a Cinderella ala Wayne State (2011), NCAA D-II championship game participant.

If EMU beats Toledo, yes, THEN celebrate. But it's still cool to see EMU get a vote.

If BCS were around today and released as early as week 6, this is what it would look like, congrats to the Eagles, not a bad day when you see EMU next to Texas!

RE: Coaches and AP Week 6
As a fan of the MAC, I'm proud of EMU! How can't you be? They have almost everything working against them, and still, they are having a decent season so far. Are they as good as their record? As a BG fan, I don't think they probably are. But that's not the point! EMU is making some pretty incredible strides against the odds to becoming a relevant MAC football program. That's exciting news for the entire conference. For this year, I think the Emus have earned a break from the weekly attendance shaming. Give them time. They're building something in Ypsilanti!

I hope they're building something. I think they're only a little better this year, but that's all you can really ask. The 4 wins already shows improvement - although the MVU game is like NIU playing Presby - pretty much pointless unless desperate to fill the schedule.

Desperate to fill the schedule. Feel the the love (-:. Ohio is the only team to schedule UMass and the schedule is now filled through 2018. However this was not the case 15 months ago.
Quote:Hired as athletic director in 2015, Ryan Bamford faced a mammoth task. UMass had just one home game scheduled for 2016, four fewer than the NCAA minimum.
“We were 15 months away from playing and I’m saying, ‘Crap, how am I going to do this?’ ” he told the Boston Globe.
He did it by scheduling games against some top programs that were attracted to playing in Boston. UMass plays some games at Gillette Stadium in suburban Boston, 93 miles from its campus in Amherst.
The team’s 1-4 start comes with this caveat: Three of the losses came to Power 5 schools, and the Minutemen were competitive in all three: a 24-7 loss at Florida and then home losses to Boston College (26-7) and Mississippi State (47-35).

So EMU beat an fcs school, horrible Charlotte team, ok Wyo team, a horrible bgsu team, got blown out by mizzou. They should be in the 70-80 range.

Yeah, I'd like to see where those numbers are coming from, hard to believe a team with a SOS that is anywhere between 110-170 and has a 40-point loss to a Missouri team that is probably ranked in the 70-80 range being a top 50 team.
But EMU has a chance to make a major statement today. This will be the first chance we get to see what the real EMU is.

Agreed. An EMU win today, or a very close game, would be a big statement on an EMU turnaround and will most likely be bowl eligible.

Yea I'd still put EMU around 95-100 despite the wins. That's still better than they were I think. And of course, they can continue to improve like most teams, as the season goes on.

I dunno... I'd put EMU in the 90s... better than 30+ out of the 128 teams. I don't think that's overreaching. They're one of the lesser teams that knows how to pull out wins when playing fellow lesser teams. :)

They're like us in basketball a few years ago. Losing to crappy teams. First step is to stop losing to crappy teams even if still losing to so-so teams. They've done that. But that's as far as they've gotten so far. Of course, if they beat us they should be ranked.
