Done deal. ACC stays at eight games.

RE: ACC Likely Staying with an 8+1 Football Schedule
McMustache has the answer as to how much money the ACC is leaving on the table by sticking with 8 conference games...

ACC opts to remain at 8 league games despite the fact ACC schools will now receive $500K less per school in TV revenue industry sources said

2:35 PM - 5 Oct 2016

In other words: ESPN put a value on the 9th conference game of $500,000 per school per year.

Does any other P5 conference want to add an extra conference game in exchange for receiving an extra $500,000 per school per year?

Put like that Clemson really came out ahead since the higher ticket prices obtained from playing the second quality OOC game each year dwarfs $500k.

Lol. The sucky schools might. Hokiemark lays it out. 500,000 is an insult. This is about giving up a home game every other year. Look at the numbers Clemson makes against from games. No big school wants to give up 7 home games for 500,000 thousand.

Play Troy and make 2 million or play another acc school and make 500k. That doesn't even touch the local economic benefit.

ESPN must be smoking crack.

I would be very careful using the linked author's work as proof of anything. I heard it directly from Terry Don Phillip's mouth at an IPTAY meeting that we would have lost money in 2008 due to playing Alabama in Atlanta if it weren't for La Tech buying out of our game against them in Shreveport and us adding a second FCS game to give us seven home games. Pretty sure that the AD at Clemson has a far better idea of what a home game brings in as far as revenue than some amateur blogger with an agenda.

$500,000 to play a 9th conference game is ridiculous. Sell that crazy somewhere else!

Now, $500,000 to stop playing FCS... probably a wash for big stadium schools, but attractive to the smaller stadiums.

(BTW: Not sure what "agenda" I'm supposed to have. I've always said I want to stay at 8 ACC games.)

It looks like you may be setting up for it in the future. 2018 through 2020 has your OOC P5 games spaced out with one at home an the other on the road or neutral. That leaves you with the ability to add two home games against the G5. With 10,000 extra seats on the way, you guys may start enjoying the money you make from seven home games.

As of now it looks like 2023 and 2025 are the only years where you currently have two P5 OOC games away from home.
