Beaten but not embarrassed
I just finished watching the game. Turnovers beat us no doubt, but this team is going to be a handful in this conference. I am not predicting the Tigers run the table, but they are capable of beating any team in our conference including Houston. Got to get past Temple and they could get on great roll. Go Tigers.

I was there tonight and agree with your assessment. We have a legit shot to be AAC Champs this season. Who would have thought that when Fuente quit?

RE: Beaten but not embarrassed
I love having so many options at WR and RB who can actually make plays. Again, it's going to come down to how well our OL progresses. Hopefully it'll be easier in conference.

Well we played OK but a 20 point loss is pretty bad. To even be in the discussion of doing well in Conference we really need to clean up many areas

We lost by 21 two years ago and won the conference.

Turnovers and allowing them to run the ball was the difference between this years game and last year.

Our was outmatched as well but we overcame that to a point and still could have won with that issue.

RE: Beaten but not embarrassed
We played them pretty darn tight for most of the game. Take away the TO's and we did a hell of a job against a ranked team who are about two TD's away from being undefeated. The Rebs are legitimate but so are we. A loss like this one will help us down the road.

As the O line gets better and hopefully bigger next year our new young QB should do great things during his time here. We have to do a better job on defense but losing two starting DB's in the game hurt us and they took advantage of it.

RE: Beaten but not embarrassed
Ole Miss played pretty much a perfect game. One turnover and not many penalties. Their receivers made some great catches with our guys all over them. Ole Miss got a W but it was not an easy one. The pick six and the fumble that resulted in us losing a field goal attempt and them getting the ball on the 30 were what turned the game. Biggest letdown for me was letting them score on 3rd and fifteen when we still had an outside shot at getting back to one score. That really was the only big play we gave up all night. Really happy about how we moved the ball all night. Not sure how many 3 and outs we had but it was not many. We were outmatched but not as much as I thought and given the OM recruiting lately says a lot about ours.

I came away thinking both teams were better than they were 2 years ago.

I heard excuses like this for 30 years. If we're still small time, then I guess that's fine.

Otherwise, we need to get better.

Two turnovers and a dropped easy pick by us resulted in 17 of those 20 points. We made too many mistakes which made the game look worse than it was. The same way KU and BGU made mistakes that made those games look worse than they actually were.

The major difference between P5 schools and the rest is in the lines. Everyone can get big linemen. But there is a limited number of Big athletic linemen and they go P5 for the most part.

I thought the O-line played well, and the D line was okay.

The pick 6 was clearly a play that should have never happened; just a mistake by a rookie coach and a new QB. A timeout there, and you have a completely different game.

I thought we were innovative, I thought we showed talent on both sides of the ball, and I thought that the team clearly plays hard for its coach.

But it was still a missed opportunity and a 20 point loss.

You do know that not every team in college football besides Alabama competes for a national championship every year right? Teams have up and down years due to players and coaches moving on. Nothing in that game showed me that we couldn't win the AAC.

I thought our Oline was fine. We ran the football and did a good job with pass protection, as long as we were not in 3 and long situations. Our dline was not very effective, however. No pass rush, no penetration, no pressure. The difference in these two teams is their defensive line.

I'd say we have a shot of being as big time Memphis football this year as we ever had. This team is pretty good. The AAC is every bit as good as the Big12. I enjoy our conference games. Bring a friend Thursday and let's beat Temple

RE: Beaten but not embarrassed
Any time a team gives up 625 yards in one game, it's difficult to claim the defense was adequate. It wasn't. Ole Miss is a pretty good team and they've played the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 12 teams in the country. Depth was a problem for the Tigers and will continue to be an issue. Let's face it: Kids, for the most part, want to play for teams in the Power 5 conferences. Sure, Memphis can sway some top linemen or running backs or linebackers to accept scholarships, but not enough will land in Memphis to allow the Tigers to be more than adequate against teams like Ole Miss. The other team will always have the ability to rotate players in and out without much drop off in talent. That's not the case with Memphis and this will continue until the school can get into a Power 5 conference.

Yep. Only time we got pressure is when Gerard Avery blitz. I wonder if having Jackson Dillon would have made a difference.

A few bad breaks here and there. Think it should have been a 7 to 10 point ballgame

Our depth is improving every year. I don't have the impossible defeatist attitude some carry. We have come light years from where we were in a short period, no way it can't continue and even keep improving greatly. We can be the best non power 5 team bar none, the best non power 5 team is better than 80% of all power 5 teams. That's a great place to be in.
