No, it is. CFP is a NY6 bowl. It counts as the same, you can look it up. Not to say we still couldn't be eligible if we were highly ranked in the nation -- but there would be no more Guaranteed G5 spot. That would be taken by the Playoff.
This was just "officially" announced. We'd also have Boise in front of us likely too.

Just officially announced? I looked it up a good while ago. I can understand being announced for clarification because ya got Boise & WMU undefeated, with Houston in the driver's seat contending for the Playoff spot.
Good thing is though, if Boise is undefeated & WMU is undefeated, since ESPN owns so many bowls, they'll probably pull some strings to have us play each other if that's the case. The whole college-football-fan-world would want to watch it and it'd get great ratings. Bronco vs Bronco. 13-0 vs 13-0.
Problem is, if that were the case, PJ Fleck would probably be on a plane to a P5 school, and Boise would still have their HC settling in. However, part of me believes PJ would tell the hiring team that he needs to Help finish the job at WMU and would be an unofficial stand-by guy for the team during it.

#25 VT plays #17 UNC and #23 Florida State plays #10 Miami next week. UNC and Miami win and WMU will probably be 23 or 24.

RE: Top 25?
We're RIGHT behind #24 Utah and #25 VA-Tech in the AP Poll. Big jump in votes to #23. Voting Points in brackets:
[276] #21: Colorado @ USC (2-3)
[244] #22: West Virginia @ Texas Tech (3-1)
[230] #23: Florida State @ #10 Miami-FL
[ 86] #24: Utah vs Arizona (2-3)
[ 85] #25: VA-Tech @ #17 North Carolina
[ 76] #26: WMU vs NIU (1-4)
[ 56] #27: UCLA @ Arizona St (4-1)
[ 49] #28: LSU @ #18 Florida
[ 46] #29: ND-State vs FCS School
[ 46] #29: Auburn @ Miss-State (2-2)
[ 42] #30: Georgia @ South Carolina (2-3)
Good thing is, NIU still has a name for themselves, so it will be better than beating a 1-4 Kent State or something, of course.
But UCLA winning will jump over us. Auburn & Georgia winning will probably slide just above us if either win handily, or roughly tie us if they play a down-to-wire game.
Colorado could lose, WVirginia could lose, VA-Tech could lose, and FL-State could obviously lose. Utah will win.
We have a great chance to crack AP Top 25 if we whip NIU. :)

RE: Top 25?
Here's why I am hoping to crack the AP poll: when ESPN runs the scroll on the bottom of the screen of top 25 results, we would be in there and people will see it. What's more, all the CFB shows spend time on top 25 highlights. It will get the WMU name out there that much more. The Broncos will become a bit more known to the average fan.
This is fun stuff, even if it doesn't really mean anything. Great for us fans.

I saw that too. A little ridiculous, but fun to look at nonetheless.
