Penalties in key situations are still happening and hurting us (holds, roughing the passer, false starts on 4th down, etc.). Just talking about mistakes is not enough. Benching guys, additional running, other things need to be done to get the team's attention. Senior leaders need to step up and hold the team accountable.

Just need to make those minor adjustments, and the season is saved.
7-5 is still possible
Mathematically

JP. "Nick Mullens with a 240 QB rating against the Owls tonight. Did not know it (QBR) even went that high."

Stanford suddenly looks very beatable.

Not by us.

Let's be real. This is no longer about Bailiff - it's about the admin.

The body of evidence on Bailiff is past any rational decision point. This is now about the administration buying him out.

If they won't, then we shouldn't be playing FBS football.

I think you're right. The time has come that we either fire Bailiff or forget D-1.

And just to be clear, this is not about DB personally. This is about being willing to invest in athletics enough to make necessary personnel changes mid-contract.

FBS football simply moves too quickly these days to accept being completely uncompetitive for chunks of time - particularly in the worst conference in the country.

That being said - this feels like a 2-3 year rebuild for any new staff.

I don't know. I think there is some talent here that just isn't being used properly. And not because of the staff either, because of the head guy.

We've had different coordinators on both sides of the ball, we've had different position coaches at every position, and the same criticisms have applied since Nicholls State. The constant is Bailiff. That's where the problem lies.

But I give credit to the players for showing ALOT of fight

I think you answered your own question at the end...player-coach! That way we don't have to pay them!

The AD created this situation, he should have fired him last year.

And he was probably held back from his other mistake: extending Bailiff's contract. It's time for the AD to fix the mess he helped create.

And during realignment? Doing nothing looks like same ol' Rice, just happy to be playing.

Correct, put up or give up.

I'll gladly write a check to send Bailiff off to greener pastures...

"Rice coach David Bailiff isn’t long for his position. Owls are 0-5 to start the year and they haven’t even looked competitive."

His response to a question of whether his firing will happen this week, "We'll see if Rice cares"...

Answer: no.

I just emailed JK offering to contribute to Bailiff's buyout, if that is the problem. I suggest anyone who wants change do the same.
