interesting comments re. Texas
wow look at this-
http://www.espn.com/college-football/sto...te-cowboys

Texas athletic director Mike Perrin says he would be evaluating "all facets" of the football program following Saturday's 49-31 loss at Oklahoma State.
Perrin reportedly told Orangebloods.com, when asked about coach Charlie Strong's future, that "We need to evaluate what happened here."
Pressed by ESPN to expound on his comment, Perrin said, "I'm not evaluating Charlie, per se. I'm evaluating everything."

Longhorn fans are some of the worst fans in the country. They are so impatient and unrealistic.

I agree with impatient normally- but this is now year 3 for Strong, and Texas looked woefully unprepared. And what looked the worst was what is supposed to be Strong's strength- the defense.

I really like coach Strong but this is probably it for him. Quite an interesting few weeks we are in for with the BIGXII meetings coming up. The hottest name in the college coaching ranks is Tom Herman. He's coaching at the school Texas is supposedly championing for expansion. If coach Strong does get fired is Texas still going to vote for Houston for expansion??

Coach Strong wanted to be somewhere football mattered. Looks like he got what he wanted. I just hope it doesn't cost him his job. He's good a coach but he's a better person.

LSU, Notre Dame and Nebraska fans are the same. They want their coaches fire when the coaches were still winning games.

I am betting Texas wants to throw their 10 gallon hat into the Tom Herman ring.

But we keep Brian Kelly with all his 8-5 seasons
Texas wants wins, we're content with mediocrity.

The Texas big money donors didn't really want Charlie Strong from the beginning. That is too bad. Texas was in shambles when Strong got there.

Strong could have waited a year and taken the Florida job. Strong would have been perfect for Florida.

Herman is better than Strong and Kelly.

Let the bidding begin.

Although the Texas job is easily one of the top 5 jobs in the country, it was not the right fit for Strong. The expectations are too high and he has to kiss azz to the big boosters. Louisville offered him stability, a good pay and a 7-5 or 8-4 season once in a while would not be grounds for termination because the expectations are not outrageous. I believe Florida wouldn't have been too patient with him either. He's good at a mid level P5 program like Louisville, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Iowa, etc.

Texas
LSU
Notre Dame
Oregon

Herman can only coach one team.

Who would the other 3 pick up? They're not hiring a MAC coach (Fleck).

RE: interesting comments re. Texas
I like a lot of what he has done, but I think the issue is so this year he finally got the offense rolling well

but now the defense seems to just be terrible like the first few games of Mack's last seasons terrible

and the special teams is just horrible

so then you say "well he can correct that".......but with the way the offense is performing and with the pressure on the staff overall how long can you keep the OC he might get a head coaching job offer after next season so unless you are going to get everything corrected this year and get something "special" done next year you run the risk of being right back looking for an OC and unless next year is "special" like making the playoffs well he is probably gone after next year anyway no matter what happens with the OC

and even if you do something great next year when you lose the OC does that fall apart or does it keep rolling

he probably already had to win 8 games in the regular season and a quality bowl win this year to stay now it might be 9 wins and a quality bowl game to stay

you do have to concern yourself with the fact that recruits really like him and what would letting him go do with that, but if you can't coach them in some of the basics who cares, lots of coaches can recruit and what will recruiting look like if he is on the red hot seat this year and changing out the DC before next year....that probably hurts recruiting anyway

How much more patient are we supposed to be? This is Charlie's third year.

The added pressure is that they KNOW that LSU is going after Herman so if they want a shot at him then they need to make a decision pretty quick here.

Both Texas and LSU could be scary good with Herman.

How about a trade, Tuberville for Strong?

I'll just let you pick him up off the waiver wire!
