Cross Country Update
This Saturday, both teams will be competing at the Rim Rock Classic hosted by Kansas.

The men's 8K race is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., with the women's 6K race to follow at 10:00 a.m.

Rice women, in spite of their victory last weekend, dropped from #3 to #4 in the latest NCAA South Central poll, due to the impressive effort by SMU at Virginia. At that race, SMU was 2nd, ahead of two ranked teams, Virginia and Syracuse. As a result, SMU jumped to #21 in the national poll.

Women's South Central Poll (September 26, 2016)

1. Arkansas [#10 Nationally]
2. SMU [#21 Nationally]
3. Texas
4. RICE
5. Baylor
6. Texas A&M
7. Stephen F. Austin
8. Tulane
9. North Texas
10. TCU

Rice won't have much of a chance to impress voters, in that the Kansas field is weak in comparison to a strong field at Notre Dame. Host Kansas (#2 in the Midwest Region) and Indiana (#8 in the Great Lakes Region) will be the toughest teams.

Rice men did not race last weekend, but still moved up one spot to #12 in the latest South Central poll.

Men's South Central Poll (September 26, 2016)

1. Arkansas [#5 (tie) Nationally]
2. Texas [#30 (tie) Nationally]
3. Texas A&M
4. Baylor
5. UT Arlington
6. Lamar
7. North Texas
8. Stephen F. Austin
9. Texas State
10. McNeese State
11. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi
12. RICE

Results from Kansas will be HERE about 30 minutes after the races.

RE: Cross Country Update
At the Notre Dame Invitational today, Baylor's women had a very good race, finishing 5th overall in a strong field. They defeated, among others, Notre Dame (3rd in the Great Lakes Region), Mississippi (4th in the Southeast Region) and Utah (4th in the Mountain Region).

Texas had a horrendous race, as they ended up in 16th place. They were without their ace runner, Sandie Raines, but even with her, they likely would have been no higher than 13th.

UTEP was 2nd in the men's race. They are prohibitive favorites to win C-USA.
