RE: USM Pregame thread
Bringing this thread back on topic ... Linked from Alan Shelby's Rice Update today, I love the way this guy's thinking -- "Seven Reasons Rice Could Upset Southern Miss".

But in the end, he realizes it's a fantasy and predicts a 42-14 USM rout.

(The writer, Bobby Albrant is an Oregon journalism grad who has developed an forumula-driven prediction system, Aciventrua ... which, FWIW, predicted Stanford for squeak out a win at Washington and Baylor to blow out Iowa State. He is covering USM for SB Nation this fall.)

All of our games have been competitive, for a while. I believe Rice has lead in all 4 games only to not be able to deal with adjustments made by the other team.

EDIT: Rice never lead vs. WKU.

Do you really think it is adjustments by other teams or just regressing to the mean?

I've seen nothing out of this team this year that indicates they can sustain quality play over more than 1 Q of football.

I think both play a roll. UNT clearly made some adjustments which Rice couldn't or wouldn't deal with. And the Owls play certainly took a nose dive after the 1Q.

As we listen to the Football Game tonight, let's remember the slogan of our IBEW Sponsor as it applies to the economics of the Rice Athletic Department:

"Skilled Coaching isn't cheap. Cheap Coaching isn't skilled"
