RE: Tubby talks to coaches
Tubby Smith is a gem in the coaching world and just life. I get that sports fans are crazy but people acting like he doesn't care and just came to Memphis for a paycheck is insulting. He obviously cares very much about his work and how he treats those around him. I am thrilled to have him in charge of the Tigers

He said McGuire taught him many things including how important image is to a program and being able to decide on a style of play and sticking to it while tweaking it.

Many good coaches adhere to this view and the first that comes to mind is the coach at Syracuse.

He said in modern college basketball, a good shooter will make 70 to 80 percent of his shots if they are not contested. If they are contested with hands in the face, that percentage drops at least 20 percent.

sounds like Hubie Brown, I learned a lot about NBA basketball just from listening to his interviews(pre and post game)

I am looking forward to an intelligent COACH leading our program 04-cheers

Word on the street is Opie is speaking at a clinic on defensive philosophy in Atlanta. I'm guessing he's gonna talk about how to get your guards beat off the dribble and bigs in foul trouble when they rotate out too high?

I also heard the new Grizz coach mention "positionless basketball" in an interview the other day. Maybe JP was just ahead of his time... 03-lmfao

The grizz were smart enough to hire local media as a pr firm so there shouldn't be any blow back if it doesn't work.

It's why I've always said everyone looks good in warmups. Add defense and they can't make a shot. It's why it's useless to ever look at the opponent in warmups. Game film is where it's at.
