RE: Games of Interest - Thursday/Saturday
Game Reminder - UCONN at Houston tonite on ESPN (7pm). UCONN beat the Cougars last year in the only loss for Houston. But the game is in Houston this time. Its a game of interest since we will be playing UH in a couple of weeks in the road (Oct 15th). We won't play UCONN - unless its in the AAC championship later in the post season. So good luck cougars!

Also, there is a game on TV between NC A@T and Hampton on ESPNU at 6:30pm Tulsa time. Good luck to NC A@T. Hope they win the FCS national championship ------ NOW!

RE: Games of Interest - Thursday/Saturday
Houston took apart the UCONN defense last night and Greg Ward looked like an All American as UH won huge. Congratulations to the Cougars. As far as UCONN is concerned, they have nothing to be ashamed of if Houston goes on and has that expected great success.

NC A@T also won big and its obvious they are a very good team at that (FCS) level.

TU being off this weekend is probably a good thing since we can recover from the jet lag experieinced in the first half of the Fresno St game.

And now its on to that important SMU contest in Tulsa next Friday. From a bowl standpoint its imperative we win this next game and be 4-1. If we get to that point, the odds are that we will be bowl bound, but also that the conference schedule will get tougher. We can't stumble at this point.

It looks like we've lost backup QB and run specialist Chad President, but it probably will turn into a good thing imo. Last year PM had to burn CP's redshirt learning year, now its a certaintly that he'll get that back since he has seen limited duty. It also allows Rubley to get some cleanup reps behind Dane. Both Rubley and President will have a nice battle for Danes successor next spring. But with the injury to CP, we must keep Dane healthy now.

RE: Games of Interest - Thursday/Saturday
Scores of note last night:

Temple - 45
SMU - 20

We now welcome SMU to Tulsa on a short week - Friday evening. SMU obviously has some QB problems with their starting QB (Matt Davis) sidelined. The backup QBs are struggling at the moment and have a freshman in the lineup. We don't play Temple this year.

UCF - 47
ECU - 29

The good and bad is that I think we have a very good chance winning the ECU game at home later on, but the bad because UCF looks like a "repared" football team that has talent and desire to improve. We get them on the road later on.

South Florida - 45
Cincinnati - 20

A blowout in front of the Cincy home crowd drew boos and an early exit from many fans. So the FB team will either collapse or rededicate itself to not allow this to continue. With the talent they have, they are still very dangerous. But again, we get them at home later on. We don't play USF who is a very talented team, especially at the skill positions.

Navy - 14
Air Force - 28

IMO, Navy is still having "experience" issues after graduating the backbone of their very good team last season. They only returned 8 total starters from 2015. But of course they gain experience every week they play and practice. When we meet them in Maryland later on, they should be their old selves.

Tulane - 31
UMASS - 24

I'm not sure how good UMASS is, but probably has "issues". So i think Tulane is probably similar to last year. That means they are capable and talented, but probably isn't as good as us unless we lay an egg at homecoming.

Ole Miss - 48
Memphis - 28

In Oxford Miss, this was a revenge game for the Rebs and doesn't necessarily tell us much about Memphis other than they got beat. We play them on the road later and it could be a "crucial".

So we have an important game ahead and SMU is on a short turnaround from the Temple loss. Lets not get lazy or sloppy. A 4-1 record is the goal.

See you all on Friday evening! Go TU!
